Default Should I Worry? Over 1 Bar At Full Boost

I installed a set of headers, Fabspeed exhaust, Fabspeed cold air intake system and waste gate pipe, full tune up, set CO to 3% and once I hit 3K my boost gauge tacks over 1 bar, should I be concerned? I wanted to install a 1 bar spring but now I don't know if I should? I've only have had the car for a few months and it spent most of the time in my garage getting all the upgrades but I don't remember it tacking over 1 bar before all the work.

Mkae sure the pressure line to the waste gate didnt blow off, Also I noticed the dump pipe has no soot in it. looks slike it hasnt opened at all since the dump pipe was installed. it's either sticking or the line is off. my stock one stuck all the time never could tell when it would work or not. It's now in the used stock parts pile in the garage.

Because I installed the headers and pipe at the same time, in that picture the car has never been started yet The waste gate works, trust me I hear it once I let off the gas.

How far over 1 bar???

From the way it looks, and I had this happen, he dump pipe on the wastegate appears to have too small of a diameter.

I know I bought a dump pipe with a slightly smaller diameter and installed it on my wastegate, and my boost pressure climbed above 1 bar.

All the way... So you think I need a bigger pipe? Don't we have an over boost switch?

Stock gauge, or a mechanical gauge?

To be accurate, you need a mech gauge. With a new freerer (sp?) flowing exhaust, you may have to go with a .8 or .9 bar spring to get 1 bar.

The wastegate should open when you reach 1 bar of boost, not when you are off the gas.

As suggested, make sure you boost line is installed correctly and your vent is open.

Also if you search this forum you will find people that say that some headers will give you an extra .1 or .2 bar boost. If this is the case then your stock spring will be fine if you want to run 1 bar. Rocket is correct when he advises that you get an accurate boost gage but if you were reading something less than 1 bar before then you probablly are gaining some extra boost. Maybe someone who has had the boost creep factor can chime in.

Make sure the the two small hose connections to the wastegate have not been reversed although I think it is unlikely with a stock wastegate. The lower port is for boost pressure & the top port is the vent.

Going over 1bar is a no no with CIS. You will break the WUR...

Hmmmm this thread worries me.

I have a 1 bar spring in my wastegate and am running B&B headers and a GHL exhaust. I have a factory gauge and it goes a tad beyond 1 bar at full boost.

Maybe I should swap out for a .9 bar spring. They are probably pretty easy to change, correct?

I guess the first step is to get a new gauge. Where and which one should I get?

NHS is a good company and will design the gage any way you want it. Tell tale or no, vacuum or no, red zone, total sweep range, (ie; 1 to 1.5 bar or 2 bar), and usually at no extra charge. Be sure and get the connector kit with it. It's about $70 and well worth it. Maxx installing the spring is not hard but there is thread on this forum that goes into detail about it. Things like putting a clamp over the top of the WG as you remove the screws holding it together, making sure that the diaphram is seated properly when closing it up etc. You might want to go with a stock spring at .8 bar because it would be less money and you would have a little margin on the 1 bar limit.
