Nice car, I am considering buying a slant nose. I am not familar with row models, you say in your ad it has option code 506,but its not listed on the option sticker. How can you tell if its a factory slant?

Only slantnoses made between 1987-1989 will have the factory M506 code stamped in the options sticker since these cars came directly from the Porsche factory as being Slantnoses. From 1981-1986 Slantnoses were only available by Porsche's special wishes program, wich means that Porsche hired an independent company called "Werks 1" All of the original Slant Nose Conversions built before 1987 were built by Werks 1 by Porsche's Special Wishes program. The way you can distinguish a real slantnose from a conversion is that Porsche Special wishes Werks 1 slantsnoses have a single motor that operates the front headlights. Also the headlights are round not square. The side rear louvers, having jack points integrated in the side skirts. A huge front mounted factory intercooler.
Several things can identify most conversions. The easiest is, none of the Porsche slant nose setups ran square headlights or separate motors in each bucket. The original headlights were more or less from a 944, along with the shrouds, and the motor. A single motor inside the trunk drove both motors via a large rod. Much like the 944-headlight setup. Most of the aftermarket versions are not this way and even if they have the round headlights the buckets are sealed with separate motors in each bucket. None of the conversions are known to have a replica of the single factory motor headlights.
As far as the brass plaque, it is non existant. To be honest with you, I don't believe that it was something that was installed by Special Wishes Werks 1 program. I have done alot of research and have not found that to be a requirement for being a factory slantnose. I think that was something that independent dealers did when they imported them. These pre 1987 Slantnoses were only European cars. There is no doubt in my mind that I believe that this is a real Slantnose. The biggest factor in deciding is the headlight assembly and the rocker panels having the jack points. The body panels look ver stock and original. The headlights are round.

From what I can tell, it is the genuine article. There are lots of subtleties that distinguish a factory slant of the pre-505/506's from a clone.
Werk-I is nothing more than a facility at Porsche's Zuffenhausen or Stuttgart plant, I forget which. They worked on special projects, be it race car or road car.
