Default G50 Custom Application Experience Needed! Trying to fit into 951

Okay guys, yes I'm from the 951 section so don't shoot, but I hear that a bunch of 930 guys have retrofitted G50's into their cars.

So here's my question, does anyone have any pics of a G50 by itself and possibly some dimensions to aid me?

I've searched and nothing came up, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Its application would be in a 944 GTR Turbo replica with a tube rear end so anything is possible. Thanks!!

WHY? The 951 has a pretty stout transmission and excellent balance, why mess with it.

A 915 transmission can be retrofitted ala 924 carrera gt, because you can flip the ring gear. In a g50 I do not beleive it is possible you will have 5 reverse gears and 1 foward gear.

You can run the gearbox upside down. That is how all the kit cars mate the G50 to the chevy 350.

Not to be an antagonist but would it be cheaper and easier almost to source a 968 turbo rs tranny? I have seen the on german ebay before for around $5000 if I remember correctly? I do think it would be a cool modification as a 944 guy.

True but there is only 1 left at AG and they want $10k + for it. Its in the budget but its not as robust as I'd like. Plus for changing gearing to top out at 220ish its more cost effective to use G50 gearing, that's why I'm looking into it. Plus I need to say PCA legal and run a Porsche box so I can still club race.

The 915 is not near strong enough -- they top out around 350 ft/lbs of torque before you start to break things.

I find it hard to believe you will actually see 220mph...that is Indy car speed.

Building the car to run at bonneville/Golden State Run style events. Straightline speed of course but I want to push the envelope. The motor will be able to produce the power needed, its just the damned 951 trannies cost about 25k to gear for that speed. Its rediculous.

Plus if I have to spend 10k or more on a tranny I want to be able to run it at PCA events.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll see what I can dig up from here.

Best person to call is Patrick Motorsports in AZ. They do number of G50 conversion to older 911 and do some 914 stuff. If anyone would know if its possible they probably could help.
