I knew I would get most of you to look at this! I got a couple of pics from the painter today. The car was soda blasted to get it down to the bare metal.

OK, I must assume that you and your painter know what you're doing, but I am quite confused as to why the blasting was done on an assembled car with glass and interior. Isn't this usually a bare-shell step in the restoration process? Look at all the remaining paint around the doors.

The blasting was done with baking soda and the glass was left in because the painter wanted to do the final cleaning himself. There isn't very much paint left on the car. To keep the door jambs and decal/vin number intact, he is going to paint from the skin seam inside of the jamb outward. This gives a natural break incase the paint isn't a perfect match. He is also not painting any of the interior places like hood lid, engine bay etc. I am also replacing all of the window seals so getting a little soda blast didn't matter. Just a note from the painter about removing the rear window, he said that the four wires that run up through the rubber seal were a nightmare to remove. He told me that blasting with the glass out would create a mess inside of the car and would only be done if it was a interior removed restoration. They don't blast the rock guard paint along the rockers because it won't blast off. It just pushes around and forms lumps. I got all of my loose pieces from the painter today and they look great. It's amazing how intense the shine is on the new generation of paints. I'm keeping my fingers and ***** crossed for good luck!!!

Thanks for the explanation!
I think it's great you guys are preserving the door jamb sticker and VIN. I will remember that methodology.
Can't wait to see the re-clothed redhead!
