930 to 965 look

Here's my 79 with fiberglass 965 bumpers (installed by the PO). I've had the back off a bunch and it's simple. The front doesn't look too bad, but I've never had it off.

Shifter, I really like your front/back pics also

Wow tough audience
I don't think it is that bad Rod..could make an improvement with the smile...but hey who couldn't make improvements.
Rarly,
Your car use to be green? Very nice front end
125, Nice look as well.
Lots of cool 930s here!

My dp knockoff is now installed. There is an annoying gap between left upper portion of the valance and the bumper, but if I close the gap with a bolt, I'm afraid the fiberglass will crack- guess I'll have to live with a gap.

srf506,
Thanks, I copied the design from a turbo I saw back in the late 70's early 80's?? at Hallett Speedway just outside of Tulsa, Ok. I kept that picture for many years.
I used a hole saw to drill through both the valence and the bumper. The heat that comes out of there is intense. I also replaced the bumper shocks with crush sleeves. I can't remember the weight savings but it was substantial.
Jim, can't see the gap you mention. Maybe another picture when you finish?

BTW your car looks great. Shame about the smile. LOL, that sounds really weird.

I can see that some valances work better with the "Smile" than others. Keeping the bellows makes the transition work with anything but as the white one shows, it ends abruptly unless you use the vinyl filler gasket with it. Here you can see on my DP valance that the vinyl is not in place but it will be when I get the car back from the painter. IMHO the 964 front and rear finally refined the 930 to look like it was a total design instead of many years of addons and year model changes. The later models were trying to comply with the new US bumper crash standards and they look like the engineers were behind on their designs. I'll send a pic as soon as I get it all put back together with her new clothes on.
