Default Books, info on 930's?

I'll admit it now and get it over with, i'm a total idiot when it comes to the 930 series of cars. Thing is I believe i'm about to take the plunge into an 82 Euro 930. IF I buy it, and it will be from a shop I trust implicitly, I want to know everything about it. Performance, comparisons to US versions, possible upgrades, and on and on.. I will be creating a 95% track, 5% road car out of her..

I know I can do a search here and start wading but if there are books out there, etc. I sure would appreciate a boost.

Thanks!

Soon to be a Turbo addict.
Gary

Welcome to wonderful world of BOOST Gary! Congratulations !!!!!

I know, I know, you haven't signed the deal yet.

I remember when I went to "just look" at my first puppy, or my first Porsche as well. Came home with both of course! So let's just say welcome, shall we, and start modding the h#ll out of that thing! GET IT !

This is a phenonmenal board with tons of knowledge and support. Can't wait to see you on it more!

You've already proven you like slippery slopes with your "amphibious yellow submarine" SC , so you'll be familiar with some Black Diamond slopes ahead.

See you on the track! Or you know, in big puddles OFF the tracks .... Your choice. DOH!

My recommendation to you.....buy these books over on Amazon, you can get used 911 books for as low as $2.99 in excellent condition!!

Here are some titles I recommend (a sample from my collection):
1) Porsche 911 and Derivatives Vol. 2: 1981-1994: A Collector's Guide

2) Porsche 911 Turbo (Osprey Autohistory) (Paperback)
by Michael Cotton - GREAT reference!!

3) Porsche 911 Buyers Guide

4) Auto Focus: Porsche 911 (Hardcover)
by Richard Lentinello

5) Porsche 911 (Enthusiast Color) (Paperback)
by Patrick Paterine

6) 1974-1989 911, 912E and 930 Porsche (Authenticity) (Paperback)
by M Haab

7) Porsche 911 Road Cars (Sports Car Color History) (Paperback)
by Dennis Adler

8) Porsche: Six Cylinder Supercars (Hardcover)
by Henry Rasmussen

9) The Complete Porsche: A Model-By-Model History of the German Sports Car (Hardcover)
by Brian Laban

I found some more neat titles this morning I might have to look into as well.

Of course if you don't have Dempsey's 101 book - pick that up too.

Hope that helps.
Good luck - Yasin

I want to second the first two books here and also add Dempsey's 101 projects, which was mentioned earlier.

Porsche 911 by Leffingwell is an amazing overview of the 911 full history and is an awesome coffee table type book, but not as technical. Frere's book is the absolute bible, with more technical knowledge than any other source I am aware of, while Anderson and Dempsey tell you what to do to your Porsche.
