Default Replacement fuel tank

My petrol (gas) tank appears to be corroding pretty badly, especially around the bolts holding it in place. Is anyone out there able to recommend a replacement fuel tank? Or ALTERNATIVELY a step by step process to stripping the existing stock tank and recoating it? What are the pitfalls to look out for here? Thanks for any tips guys.

Buy a new one from Porsche. Anything else is not worth the headache.

Ok. Thanks Geoffrey. Are you able to say whether that'll that be in plastic, or original in metal? Is there any advantage (or is it even possible) in upgrading to a larger 90L tank? Im sure mines 65L....... ('86 930). Cheers, Rich

The stock tank is 21 gallons which is more than 65l. The replacement tank will be identical to the one that came in your car and will be metal. The tanks were not plastic until the 964 chassis where the base tank was 65l and the extended range M545 option tank was 92l (27 gallons).
