Default ***The Official BlownSix C2 Intercooler Install Thread***

Guys, since alot of us ordered the C2 Intercooler from BlownSix Design and alot of us (maybe all of us) are doing this conversion for the first time... we should help each other along the way. So this is the official thread for anyone to post install pics, tips, tricks, step by step instructions, whatever it is that may benefit others along the way undertaking this conversion. Please refrain from posting comments or off topic remarks. Only post in this thread if you are currently in posession of the intercooler or are looking to purchase one and want to add value to the 930 "do-it-yourself community. I myself will be posting my step by step guide once my intercooler comes in... Thanks again for those who will contribute to this thread. I hope this will simplify the searching process on Rennlist by keeping all of the good info in one relavent thread. Moderators, please feel free to merge the other C2 intercooler threads into this one.
Thanks!

Exxxcellent...

My BS 965 IC should have shipped today.
I just got done removing the RUF IC for better access to the WUR - which I am replacing with the Leask WUR tomorrow!

I bought the half bay IC last week and it's due here sometime within ten days. I'd be happy to be part of your assessment group...and will post pics and performance info. Chuck

OK...THE MYSTIQUE IS ABOUT TO COME TO A HALT....I just got off the phone with Stephen from Imagine Auto. We were discussing the subject of Intercoolers and he said that Blownsix has contacted him as a potential outlet for their product line. Before he commits, Stephen is going to strap the half-bay version of the Blownsix intercooler onto his wife's 930 and run it through a bunch of tests to include the dyno.

So rather than have me take a bunch of pictures and give you a half-assed assessment with a butt dyno read-out...you should be getting a more scientific and expert opinion. I've told Stephen that I'm going to "front him" on the Rennlist board...so folks will be expecting something from him within the next two weeks.

On the positive side...and looking at it logically...there's no way the Blownsix folks would take the risk of turning something like this over to Stephen if there was a chance that he'd come back and say that the product failed to meet some sort of performance standard substantially above that of a stock Intercooler. So...from a personal perspective, I feel fairly confident that even though I've already purchased the 930 intercooler from Blownsix....the results are going to be good. Chuck

That is exactly what Stepehen told me.
You get to learn the 'human nature' side of people in this Porsche business and detect a lie or a crap product way before it bears fruit or dies on the vine -

I've ordered mine and it is on the way!

Yes, it will be better than the stock intercooler, but how much better than what is already aout there, i.e. the Kokeln? At least an older one like I have (not that I know what's wrong with the new ones?).

965 vs. a Kokeln?

Hands down ,the 965 is way better. Ask Stephen.
Remains to be seen how the BS 965 performs......

My current RUF is very, very close to a Kokeln acc'd to tests done by Chris at Chris' German.

I was thinking of the BS 930 version vs the Kokeln. If BS 930 version works out to be the same or better, quality is good and the price is lower, then the BS I/C would be the way to go over a new Kokeln, but no need to switch if you have an old Kokeln?

I suspect the BS 930 IC may be very close to the Kokeln.
If so, no reason to switch if you currently have a Kokeln.

Default Blownsix 965 IC

I have started my install on the 965 cooler last night, just a few pictures here as I am still fabracating the L brackets to mount it. My plans are to have it on the road by the weekend. The Quality of this IC is very nice and I will say that dealing with Michael has been a good experience.

Tripster,
Excellent!
Thank you for posting.
Craig, the factory shroud should be a direct fit.
My intercooler is stuck in customs in MI according to UPS...
