I'm also converting to a G50/03. Along with shortening the bell housing I think you'll need a front cover from an 87-89 G50/01 and will also have to shorten the shift rod.

I also found out this tranny has an open diff too. So, there are too many things to get (therefore $$$) and fit to make it make sense for me. Oh well, thanks for all the advice and info.

I am driving an 88' 930. can I fit an 89's G50 in without cutting or major modifications? What is a short bell housing? Is it the same as the one in the 89? thanks

As I mentioned earlier, the car doesn't have to be cut. New brackets are welded onto the torsion bar housing.

I have never seen a factory G50/50 or the car they are for so I can't comment. Mine is a G50/52 shortened (from the turbo2/C2turbo/965).

Edit. Seems I have a G50/01 when I looked underneath last week. It does have an LSD though for sure

Thanks. Can I still use the original clutch and would it be heavier? Shouldn't be unless I change the pressure plates right?
