What needs to be done to fit this transmission into a 79 930? I know the bell housing needs to be shortened, but what about the front mount? I do not want to cut the car or mess with the torsion bar assembly.
I already have the plumbing, pedal kit, slave/master cylinders, etc.
Will this tranny fit this car?
Thanks

Thats it. You may have to change pressure plates from the long bellhousing style to the short bellhousing style depending on what you have and which TOB you are using.

Thats what I was thinking. I have done the conversion on an 87' and was able to use the existing mounting location. I believe pre 87 it is a simple as welding a mount to the existing location.

Hey, Don--
Wasn't it only a few months ago you were saying that you couldn't justify the cost for this swap?![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Funny how that happens.
All I know is that it sure as heck woke up my car. I have 7.5/1 compression and a 935 clutch, though, so my take-off was much harder than the one you describe with your current set-up, and therefore the improvement from this swap in your car might less noticeable, at least in that area.
Are you doing to run an LSD? I would, with the power you describe, and especially if you hit the track.

I just picked up a whole G50 setup for my 77 with the short bellhousing. Only drawback is that I have to get a LSD unit for it. Not going to install it right away because the car isnt back from IA yet anyhow, but whats a typical rebuild cost for one nowadays?
