In doubt do them. They are about 42.00 and well worth it. If there is any issue at all then you should do it. One of the problem areas that commonly leak. Easy fix.

Yeap. Pep Boys has them. Just ask Jose for one his $ 5.00 bag of O rings. He will be happy to sell them to you.

actually you can get o rings from mcmaster carr for about $5.00 per bag of about 100 or 200 depending on the size and material. anything from buna-n to viton, so if any one of you has the dimensions I could let you know the part number

I doubt you could get them at an o-ring house. They aren't really o-rings. They're thin and flat to fit in the rocker arm shaft groove.
I don't see how you can remove the shafts without scratching the bore somewhere, so I think it's a very good idea to use them for a little extra insurance against leaks.

They are not an Oring as David said. They are a rubber washer. They stick out of the groove about a half of mm. They are also not standard rubber.
The issue with the cam housings is people will over tighten the shaft and it will push the seating in out a little. Not enough to loosen up the rocker in the housing, but enough to leak. Not to mention maybe the last knucklehead that was in there driving the shafts out with a screwdriver. Without question there is always a "oops" hope that scratch doesn’t hurt anything. Nope, just leaks every where.
42-45, hell I would have paid 100.00 not to have a leaking motor. Far cheaper than A) all new rockers B) new cam housings.
I used these in EVERY motor I build.

ok so any ways what are dimensions? i bet i can find them in bulk in a high temp rated material. so far i have done this with all the fasteners etc. the will be listed on line for 1.50 a piece etc. and i get them in bags of 100 from industrial suppliers for less than 10.00. if i find them i'll post the part number so every one else can get them too

I don't want to be a stick in the mud but if you guy choose something that will not work or is exactly like the factory orings the consequences are going to be very expensive. Do you know what broken down rubber fragments do to a motor? They go in the cam spray bar, the piston squirters and so on.
It is not worth it. You want to spend thousands on proper equipment and skimp on 40-50.00 of orings?
Not everything is so cut and dry and as simple as just throwing in an Oring.

I'll second Stephen. As an engineer in a large machine shop, I deal with o-rings quite a lot. In terms of dimensions and material, these are not even close to an off the shelf item

Some just don't get it. They cannot see past the end of their nose, in an effort to save a buck. Then disaster happens and the crying starts.
Get real guy, and if you cannot afford to do it right, don't try to re invent a new fix to a well proven solution.

....having just installed my rockers yesterday, I can say that you really need to watch when installing these because you can easily sheer the top part of the "o-ring" off when installing (as I did a few times). I ended up putting a very thin layer or o-ring lube on the part of ring that sticks out of rocker. ...glad I bought few extra.
