FWIW, the engine on ebat does not come with EFI. Apparently it was setup for it with the intake manifold and fuel rails, but the electronics are pretty important. Regardless, I agree, you would drop several thousand into that without knowing what you bought and end up having to break it down completely to fell comfortable with it. I mean, the guy used it for drag racing...

DIY = Do It Yourself
As for the weight of the 930, the 81-88 cars were very similair, should weigh the same. 1986 3040 lb from the brooklands gold portfolio. A USA test.

for 7, you're going to stay cis. and do NOT rush into this, you can get many used parts on ebay and pelican at half of what you're going to spend retail. just collect'm and finish when you have parts.
also, these cars are not complex, matter of fact after you get into them, they're rather simple. i've had my 930 for 4 years now and have rebuilt/regeared trans and am totally rebuilding engine now. prior to that most complex car thing i'd done was changing a started on a vw bug, however a few engineering degrees have helped me understand why things are done. ...lots of support out there on what to do. I'd spend the next month reading the last years worth of posts on this board and pelican's engine rebuilding forum.
ok, here's a list, this will get you close to 400 to the ground (or maybe over), at least it did on my car. my car was purchased with the mods ...all are bolt ons, except cams, but they're not that hard. if you've worked on cars, you know the deal, it's all about fuel and air.
kokeln intercooler
new turbo ...many options, imagine auto's HF has been popular
new exh, i'll let others recommend here, but i have b&b
new cams, i have 964 cams, but there's maybe better options because these put power on at higher rpm's
1 bar spring or electronic boost controller with stock spring.
imagine auto's fuel head mod
modify WUR for lower boost pressure
...Oh yea, you married?? If so, formally introduce you're wife to your new mistress, and drop your wedding ring over the antenna.
Note the time of post -- 6:55AM est, heading out to the garage now.

My 79 weighed 2900 with fiberglass bumpers but heavy wheels. I would guess your 88 is about 3000.
I'd recommend spending some time searching this forum and Pelican before spending much money.
You could get a boost gauge to replace your clock so you can keep an eye on boost.
Is your car stock or do you have some mods?

diabolos88,
There is a blue and white data plate on the KKK's that tell you the type of turbo you have. It's located on the cold side of the turbine housing. If you take a digital photo of the plate, we can tell you the type of turbo you got.

Diabolos,
You can search the site for lots of good info on buildups, but the conventional wisdom is that you can go 1 of 2 directions:
1) CIS
2) EFI
If you go CIS you spend a lot less money but are limited to about 375RWHP before you get into serious fueling issues that just can't be overcome with the inherent design of the CIS system. Some may argue with that, but most good tuners will tell you that you are begging for pistons with holes in them...
With EFI, the only limit to the amount of horsepower is the depth of your wallet.
I've done 2 CIS buildups and Stephen at www.imagineauto.com has just finished my EFI. The car will be here tomorrow!! with 475RWHP. Sick.
A CIS car with a nice K27HF, a decent intercooler and good headers should get you to the 325 to 350 RWHP range fairly easily.

^I have totally rebuilt my car and you can easily spend $35k to reach that power. My car turns around 545ft/lbs at the wheels, it can get pricey.

The cost depends on where you start. I did the WHOLE job from scratch. Full and complete rebuild with new everything balanced, etc. - New P&C's (Ruf 3.4L), headwork, dual plugs, new headers, new I/C, new turbo, full autronic management, new clutch, 3.2L intake, all stephen kaspar's labor...
It's a long list and it's going to cost you the better part of $40k and a year of time if you start from scratch and have someone else do it.
I'll let you know tomorrow if it was worth it...
