Default Mods you regret doing

I just picked up amy first 930 tonight and am already thinking I need like a couple hundred more ponies in there. I like the rawness and crazy crude power it generates but know it wont be enough by the time the weekend is over. So has anyone out there modded their 930 and wished they could get a full refund?

God help us power addicts

I was warned I would be bored with the power in a week, 8 months later I took it apart...

It's an addiction for sure. I have totally rebuilt my car and love it. It is around 545lbs/tq at the wheels at 1 bar. Money well spent I would do it all over again.

Looking for a few hundred extra ponies....good luck with that...you should have bought a Hayabusa.

These cars have many limitations (old engineering, air cooled, mech. F.I etc etc), and you have to be realistic with your hp expectations.

slownrusty, I was just kidding when I said that. I know these machines are old and are not your Dodge Viper or Corvette to be throwing around big hp/tq mods.
But it does need a bit more punch though I will admit.

You can get the power, it depends on what you can/will spend.

How much boost are you running?

The larger Andial IC and the cat delete, Euro headers already you are in the 300+ hp range, up from the US spec 282hp.

It will cost approx $6G to go to 400hp and that is with you going all the work at home.

there's a 930 engine on Ebay all tricked out with EFI , p/p heads, etcetc
wouldnt it be cheaper just to get that engine instead of doing all the same things for full retail cost?

^that's not gonna get you alot of power unless you do all of the work yourself. If you are running stock boost you should be at .7 bar.

I will take a look at it later and see how much boost. What exactly does DIY mean? ripping apart the engine? or simple bolt-ons?
Im not a tech/wrench but I have done a ton of mods to all my cars and trucks in the past.
What kind of mods are you talking about if I were to spend 7k correctly?

I would not buy an engine like that. You don't know what the hell you are buying or who built it.

after some thought I figured I'll just learn the cars powercurve for now. When I drive the car it seems so much faster than I would expect it to be. How much does the '88 930 weigh? 2800lbs? or is that what the earlier 930s weighed?
