Question Turbo wrap... Where can I get it?

Where can I get one of those turbo wraps to keep the heat in and lower temps around the rear bumper?

Ceramic coat the turbine housing. Wraps are very hard on turbine/seals..

I went to a local industrial gasket supplier and bought some fire-temp insulating tape and stainless tie wire. Cost me about $10

Thanks guys.

I think on my next turbo, I'll get it ceramic coated, but for now I'm going to go the wrap or tape route.

That and build a heatshield just below the top of the rear bumper. My current setup has nothing and the heat has peeled the paint off my engine tin, brittled and destroyed the sealing gasket to the tin among other things.

A930Rocket and Jim - Please reconsider turbo wrap...that heat needs top really dissipate instead of being contained inside a thermal barrier. You are making a bad situation worse by using that wrap and will catalyze the deterioration of the metal and as Kevin pointed out the Seals and turbine itself.

Remember heat is the enemy....and you need to let it dissipate not keep it contained.

I have messed with the "wrap" on several turbo cars that I have built and I am definitely not an advocate of this procedure.

When you have a 104F fever the least you want to do is stay under ten layers of blankets and comforters - right?

How much of a power increase will you get from wrapping the turbo ? (I know you are concerned about your bumper paint too.)

You will pick up some torque due to the extra heat energy spinning the turbine wheel.

Yasin,
I understand. Unlike the 930 the 951 turbo is located right beside the upper balance shaft and with the stock turbo configuration there is a heat shield to protect it. When you upgrade to a larger turbo this heat shield no longer fits and the only option is a wrap or ceramic coating

OK, so what's a guy to do with the heat?

I'm running a straight pipe now, so there's less heat from the muffler and the rear valence below the bumper is off to help remove heat.

I'll fab a heat shield, but what else can be done to reduce the turbos heat related problems back there?
