Can 3.6L 964 turbo P&C's be run on 3.3L heads, etc?

If so, could they be run with CIS?

The head stud spacing is different between the 3.6 and 3.3l engines, so no.

The biggest you can go with the 3.3L is 3.5L I believe, but this requires machining of the case spigots.

Yes you have to machine the case spigots which some do not recommend

I do believe there are now 3.5 'slip-ins' for the 3.2/3.3 cases..

There's an interesting and relevant thread over on Pelican:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...53#post2159553

According to Henry Schmidt, it's possible to achieve approximately 3.5 liters by using a 3.6 case, 3.6 n/a pistons machined to a custom comp ratio, a 3.3 crank, and 3.3 heads machined for different stud spacing. Sounds like an interesting and potentially robust way to bump displacement compared to the 100 mm p/cs shoehorned into a 3.3 case. And per his post, he'll do that mod for *the same price* as the cost of new 3.4 p/cs (which is up to about $4600). That means that used 3.6 parts must be relatively inexpensive, which was also something I didn't know. It occurred to me that if this idea was coupled with Nickies or JB Racing's iron/alum cylinders, you may have yet another opportunity to ceremonially squander your hard earned dollars in the quest for a big displacement and high horsepower.

Sameer,

I know people have been using the 100mm jugs for quite a while.. I believe initially it involved case work, but I assume Mahle changed machiing and they drop-in now. . not sure.. I personally would prefer a 3.4 or 3.3.. stronger and better sealing... (right Geoff :-)..).. if its a big deal I can confirm...

Ed, it is true I prefer the 98 over 100mm P&Cs due to the sealing surfaces compromize that needs to be made when using the 100mm "3.5l" P&C kit.
