Default Time to replace the turbo...

Okay guys, the time has finally come to replace the old turbo on my '87 911 Turbo. Any recommendations as far as a good unit that is a direct bolt on that will give better performance than the old original? And, any ideas on the best place to acquire such a unit? Thanks for all of your help. Oh, and finally, what will it cost to go there?

I suggest going to www.imagineauto.com

They just updated their web site and they have pretty good discriptions of the different bolt on turbos.

I just purchased the K27 HFS from Stephen and really like it. This particular unit costs $1800. Very different animal from the K27 7200 I had (and still have if you want a good deal on one with only 10k miles on it). Stephen has all the goodies to get you your fix.

The K27HFS will spool up quicker than the K27HF and is therefore better.

Hang on, how many HF's are there in all? I'm getting confused here.

K27HF
K27HFS
K27HF2

Are there more?

Sameer you have it correct. The Hyflow "S" does spool up a little quicker..

The HFS is best for CIS cars.

The HF2 is for higher bhp than the CIS can handle and therefore I presume would cause unnecessary turbo lag (rpm and throttle) compared to the HFS.

Nathan you have to remember that with the EFI and the HF2, tuning will minimise lag.
