Kokeln Club Turbo
Anyone running one? Also, what the differance between the Kokeln club turbo and the K27 7200 turbo? Yeah I know it depends on what trim, hot side, etc. but generally speaking how do they compaire.

They use a Garrett cross section and close the oil line down. This will create long term issues with the reliability of the turbo. Comparing a stock 7200 and spool times to any larger turbo will be a unfair comparison. There are trade offs in every area. The 7200 spools very quickly and can support about 450HP. Hard to beat for the price.

That is not near the same system though. The 951 dumps oil back into the pan verses the 930 has to sump the oil back to the case. The issue becomes if you do not close the line down you will back oil into the system and look like Captain Hazelwood rolling down the street. The turbo on the 930 is below the oil level verses the 951 which is above. This is the reason you don't need to take the same precautions as the 930.

From: Dallas, then Annapolis - now Laguna Beach CA. Well, not so fast - I'm back in Dallas. For good!
Jim, I'll butt in here and add my .02...
Turbo options for the 951 appear to be wide and varied. There are folks running all sorts of sizes and brand/combos with good results.
Not so much with the 930's. Most guys stick with a few tried and true favorites. I think it has to do with extra heat where the turbo sits, and the oiling issue being so critical... i.e., lubrication AND cooling.
The "old" K27-7200 is a favorite due it's quick spool characteristics - it's what I have. They seem to work best for stock to mildly modified, mostly street cars..
There have been some others come and go for higher HP motors, but the new favorite is the K27 "High Flow". A K27 based turbo with new technology added.
Stephen will correct me if I'm off base...
Folks have tried variants and Garrett hybrids, but the costs of making a mistake are higher with the 930's as you now know... I think most folks here tend to not experiment as much.

Yup, I run the OEM Carrera Motronics EFI
Sameer, I e-mailed Patrick a while ago. He's only looking to spend a few hundred dollars. He won't find one with such low mileage for that amount!
I think $1k is a really good deal! I could sell for a bit more, but I want to sell asap to fund a bigger Turbonetics unit.
