Who really has the best Aftermarket Header + TiAL WG Question

The previous incarnation was about 500hp and 550ftlbs. It's not been to a dyno since the changes just yet but the seat dyno says more.
After all the problems I called Powerhaus and said the engine is this and this and this. They said it is exactly the motor they build except they would use my old K29 and these headers. In that form they say they get 580 reliable hp.
The Powehaus design looks very similar. The 3 into 1 configuration is the same and heat exchanger looks the same. But the order lead time was much faster than B&B could do. That was my 2nd choice.
The lesson learned is that a custom motor needs custom headers. They need to be sized to the needs of the engine. Same goes for the turbo. In this motor, old tech K29 beats new tech K27HF. The K27HF may have been more efficient but the turbine was too small for the application so the the exhaust couldn't get out of the engine fast enough.
With the EFI and 8.5:1 pistons the off boost throttle response is so good I don't notice any significant lag from the older turbo and larger headers. I have way more torque on tap than I need.

It's also a materials problem. The T321 material is not capable of handling this kind of heat. Inconel is but nobody would be able to afford the headers. So I just resign myself to replacing them every 2 years...

How do the cracks appear? Are they at the welds or along the pipe itself?

We used to buy in B&B headers and suffered with the cracking problems, so in the end we tooled up to make our own from superior materials.
The header pipes are made from 304 stainless with full wall thickness bends. We argon purge weld every joint to ensure that we do not get slag on the inside of the pipes, after welding there is no need to grind or polish the joints, they come out perfect. We use 1.5" od x 1.5mm wall header pipes which are good for 500bhp, always fitting a 1.75" wastegate pipe to avoid the overboost problems sometimes seen with the GHL.
Unfortunately for you guys Stateside, the headers (excluding fitting kit) work out at 1595 sterling which is around $3000.

Btw, I just spent two days at Watkins Glen, and my GHLs are done. There's a big crack right off the wastegate pipe (in the tubing, not at the weld). The car has done maybe 8-10 track events, and the headers were street used before that. If you are going to track your car, spend the $s and get some custom ones.

So far I've not had any cracks in my B&B headers or my Millemiglia exhaust, lucky me or I just dont push my car hard enough at one time. However my next set of headers will be custom make headers and exhaust, lets see. I actually wanted to get the Fabspeed dual outlets exhaust but from what I feel, it will only shoot flames from the turbo side as the other side would be from the wastegate, correct me if I'm wrong guys.

Sameer - you are absolutely correct, on the Fabspeed muffler one side is connected to the WG the other to the muffler, it is made to look like a true dual tip muffler and kudos to them for a beautiful end product.
BTW, how long have you had your B&B?
I just ordered mine and I am going to have them ceramic coated to keep the heat in the pipe and protect the welds. Here is a downpipe I made at home and then had ceramic coated, this was on my 340wheel hp Corolla (bottom pipe, ignore the top):

Yasin,
I've had the B&B headers without the heat exchangers(who needs the heater in Singapore) for abt 4 yrs already. On the exhaust, I love the way the Fabspeed sounds but now I want a true dual outlet, one which shoots flames from both tail pipes. On B&B and GHL, I've heard one too many people having them cracked. Dont know why no one goes for the Millemiglia which sounds great. I know Pete has one.

If you just street drive your car, they are probably fine. For track use, they just don't seem to hold up IMHO. Track use is much harder on components, because you are at full boost most of the time.

I never plan on changing my mille miglia unless its for a straight dump pipe (doubtful). Sameer, I think we got it right with the muffler, I havent heard a better sounding muffler on a 930, and 3 ft. flames out both sides at night just adds to the fun. I might need to get some new headers done up also once EFI gets done. we'll see if ghl's start causing a bottleneck.
