Dave,

Thanks. Were you suggesting I use this as the electric water pump or as an oil circulation pump after the engine is turned off ?

Tim, Kevin,

Do you think a turbo oil cirulation kit that runs after you shut off the engine will be almost as good as the water cooling ? It would be much simpler to setup - and many kits already exist.

Thanks,
Norm

The design of the Garrett Ball-bearing, bearing housing has the upper water-cooled passage. Having 180-210 degrees of water in that housing, stabilizes the entire unit.. This includes oil that is passing through.. Right now you need to decide what is easy for you, and what you can physically do.. If you have some time grab an infrared heat gun and look at your temps when you get into the pits.. This should sway your decision as to which way you want to go..

Kevin,

Thanks will do. I am at a race this weekend @ MidOh and will use my infrared and point it at the center section when I get out of the car.

From what I am understanding there will be replacement cartridges very soon for those that might need them down the road.
Tim, are the replacement carts available yet from Garrett?

The turbo that you should be running is my billet aluminum Stage 4...
Kevin,

what's your "billet aluminum stage 4" all about?

By the way, I did simply add the oil cooling through the water jacket and that solved the problem. It did stabilize and lower the temps. I used to have to replace turbos every 4 hours. I now have 5 race weekends on them and they are still like new.

So thanks for the suggestions...

Kevin,

your HF higher efficiency compressor wheel is available with or without it running "0" clearance correct ? What are the pro's/cons of an HFS with and without running ZC?

Are the HFS compressor wheels also easily installable/CNC'd into an existing 7006/7200? If so, what does it take to upgrade a 7006/7200 to your HFS in terms of $ and time?

That's great news Norm. Do you circulate oil through the turbo while it's cooling down with the engine off? If yes, what type of system recirculation is it?

I'm not sure which spec Garrett BB turbo 9m fitted to mine but I know it's oil cooled, it says Garrett on one side, I think the rest of it is a 9m creation, what a turbo though, just incredible!

diabolos88, the Stage 4 billets are based on K16 and/or K24's (different turbo).. Yes, the Z/C process can be applied to the K27 series.. Yes I can turn any 7006 or 7200 into a HF, Z/C is an option.

Hello Guys,
Norm , what kind of oil temps are you seeing ? How are you returning the oil from the turbos and at what rate if by Electric pump ?

While Garrett has stated that all their Ball bearings GT turbos has to have coolant lines attached for the turbo to last , i have seen applications where this has not been a problem if the oil temps are good and the return is done right ...
