Question Help - where to install O2 sensor?

I have just gotten a wideband A/F meter (Innovate LM-1), so the question is where do I place the O2 sensor?

On my GHL header, there's bung right before the turbo (~2" away) @ where the collectors joins. But the LM-1 manual clearly said to NOT install it before the turbo because of a) too high exhaust pressure, b) too high temp (O2 sensor is rated for <1300F).

The only other alternative that I can see is the tailpipe (after muffler), which I think is probably less accurate.

So - any suggestions from those who had done it out there?

thanks...

Weld the boss directly after the turbine outlet, approximately 2-3", before the muffler. They are correct that the O2 sensors are somewhat pressure sensitive and don't like the backpressure of a turbo.

I can assure you it won't work right at the collector since I found out the hard way. In my case I opted to put the O2 right after the muffler can since I didn't have enough pipe after the turbine and the location sucked. The accuracy is good enough, what muffler do you have?

Took a look @ my set up & I'm with Brent - not enough room between turbo & muffler (maybe 2-3").

The car comes with a Borla exhaust though I'm not sure which model. It has twin tail pipes on both sides.

Brent, wrt accuracy - what different did you see? Or how significant the difference is before/after muffler?

I use a wide band and I compared it when I did a dyno session. Then I talked with the manufacturer and decided to put it right after the muffler can. I also sent back the O2 to have it checked and it was right on. There was a big difference between the collector and where I have it now. There shouldn't be any difference before or after the can.

My headers come with O2 bung at the collector just before the turbo. Innovative says to put it after the turbo. Question is why does the factory have the O2 before the turbo and why shouldn't I do the same (i.e., use the bung hole at the collector)? Is the WB sensor more delicate?

Which is why I did my tuning like this....last thing I wanted to do was to ruin the Innovate sensor...

NSXTC - the narrowband is not senstive to the turbulence like the 5 wire is.

This not a gray area thing - wideband sensors DO NOT get placed between head and turbine.

Yasin,
That's a good idea! Where'd you get that rig?
