Hi,

For those of you have been running with the Lee Rice fuel enrichment device in your 930 can perhaps share your experience, good or bad. Thanks in advance.

I have the Lee Rice fuel enrichment device on my car, installed by Lee Rice.

If you car is not mod to the extreme, I think it is a good mod. My car is stock with the exception of the fuel enrichment and the removal of the muffler. Oh I just replaced the stock BOV with an EVO billet one.

The enrichment enhances throttle response from a dead start and will make the car more drivable on the street, at slower speeds.

I would recommend it. It is a great add on if you plan to install headers, and 1 bar boost spring.

Regards,

Sonny

My mechanic told me the WUR is not probably not working so I am considering the Lee Rice unit instead of installing a stock WUR. More fuel related diagnostic work is being carried out to determine the exact cause of the problem before I proceed with the fuel enirchment unit. Thanks for your help.

Why not simply have the head flowed and increase the upper end rates?

Yep, it's the best way to go for fuel enrichment. You get your fuel head rebuilt and port matched at the same time, most of them need it by now. It's clean and you retain your stock WUR, no extra stuff or wires. If you really start to run alot of power you can still mod the WUR for even more fuel.

What exactly is involved with doing the "Fuel Head mod"?
I was waiting to see if I needed a new WUR to fix the problems I'm having. I didn't have the means to test hot/cold pressures etc., but my mech does and now apparently it was a faulty rear pump after all.
So, do you just remove the fuel head, send it somewhere, get it back, bolt it up and go? I think the CO has to be checked, but is that it?

Oh yeah, pay for it...

Brent, don't you this type of work on the side? How hard is it take of the stock WUR?

Yes, it's easy to take the WUR out but to take it apart and do the mod and check the pressures to make sure everything is right is a pain in the ***.

Taking the CIS out and removing the fuel head is a bigger pain in the ***. Once you do it, the next several times will be easier. Yes, you take it out and send it out the after you install it you re set the CO.

Lee can't rebuild them but can modify them like myself. The internal parts are impossible to obtain.

I bought a reconditioned unit from SpecialT auto for $169.95 plus shipping. My current unit was stuck at the high pressure setting.

Brent: if you need internal parts fabricated PM me... I have machine shop services at my disposal. Copying the metal diaphragm would not be a problem either.

It's the bi metallic metal strip and ceramic resistor with the wire and connector assembly that you need. Nothing else goes bad in the unit. So a machine shop won't help.

Gotcha. I thought you mentioned in another post that the metal diaphragm can deteriorate as well.

Could the bi-metallic strip from another unit be used? I have a strange looking two stage unit from a turbo volvo CIS system. The dual spring is supposed to heat up faster. The resistor ohms out OK.

Thanks.
