Default Griffiths Fuel Lines Anyone?

So... FINALLY dropping motor (well I'm not BBI is) to do clutch and replace very piece of rubber hose in the engine bay (and a few other things 'while in there')

I bought the Griffths lines (3 of them), the 4th return line I bought factory OEM.

The lines are super nice and well made. Nice hose, nice fittings. Very hight quality.

BUT, they hose is braided, not OEM rubber and the fittings are stainless vs. CAD plated.

Am I being ****? i was tempted to just send mine off to have them re-hosed but I already have the Griffiths parts.

Tell me I'm being **** and to use what I bought and that nobody will care it doesn't look OEM :-)

The Zims ones actually look OEM because they use the same type of German rubber hose.

I have the Griffiths lines and would pick them again. Fairly certain they are rubber hose with an abrasion covering and the fittings are zinc plated.

Ok ok. I'm being ****. :-)

Now on the fan... i think a matte grey like OEM for the fan, shroud, and timing box covers. And the tins will be powder coated black to clean them up...

And some cad plating to go with this all.

The high temperature abrasion resistant cover serves a purpose.

The metal components are all new, steel. The ends are zinc with clear coat.
The rail tube under the intake is electroless nickel. If Porsche ever used "cad" it was a very long time ago, most of their components were probably zinc with a yellow hexavalent chromate (hex chromate has pretty much been phased out in the auto industry and trivalent chromates are not that common).

If your showing your car at a Concours event you'd need to consult the judges, People's Choice events tend to be more forgiving (including the weekend events at our local coffee shop, especially if you bought the bagels, if you bring Becks you will win).

I don't do concours :-) I'll use 'em. I bought a few months back and was just having a moment of weakness.

Fwiw, I just did a top end rebuild with a very reputable shop and they highly recommended Griffiths when I requested new fuel lines.

Please no.

Well motor's out, knock on wood no surprises :-) We did find the engine carrier is bent at one of the mounts and has a small crack. They are going to weld and gusset it so it'll not be an issue going forward.

And yes we're using the Griffiths' lines! Shop tech looked at me cross eye'd when he saw them and was wondering why I'd want the OEM ones. LOL
