Default Rennline wiper motor cover - problem

I went to install the Rennline wiper motor cover and now the brackets (which you re-use) don't line up with the holes. They aren't warped or bent, and all I did was drill out the rivets from the cardboard original. Thoughts?

Welcome to the world of hand built cars.

Can you elongate the holes on the passenger-side bracket?

I bought the optional brackets and they didn't fit very well either. I haven't installed, but the 2 brackets are disimilar from each other and neither follow the contour of the cover itself. The folks at Rennline were very responsive and suggested some massaging of the brackets may be necessary to get them to fit properly.

I wonder if I loosely attach the brackets first without the cover, if I could then get to the cover attachment screw nuts behind to tighten them.

I could make a little tab for the left side upper and lower. I don't think bending or filing holes will work in my case, that's almost an inch off.

Aren't those mounting tabs held in place by those nuts in the cover? It looks to me that if you remove both brackets you have enough room to drill new holes in the brackets and move things over so you align with the body brackets.

^ That is a GREAT idea.

Rennline replied and they are stumped as well, but want to see some more pictures.

Look up the word "elongate".

Could be just camera lens distortion, but those look offset, like if you swapped them around, they might be a closer fit.

^ worth a try! One has a bit of a cutout that I assumed goes next to the brake booster. It's hidden behind the new cover, though.
