Funny - seller lists this car as Turbo-Look upgrade although it is a real M491 ... the price is a bargain ? ...

The wording - if that’s a real M491 - cost him dearly. “All steel” and “upgrade” sound consistent with the whole aftermarket Turbo clone world.
Though a fan and owner, if I’d just looked at the listing, I’d have kept moving without interest. Did someone just get an original for the price of a copy?

She's a beauty. A few extra LEDs in the center console, but a real looker. l especially like the clean / no AC.

1988 M491 Coupe Value
Hi All,
I have friends who own a 1988 M491 Coupe and would appreciate some guidance with current market valuation. Here is what I know. They are the 3rd owners and have had the car for 13 years. Color: L999 Paint to Sample Platinum metallic. Mileage: Believed to be actual at around 56K. Interior: Seats were recovered in Beige vinyl and all other leather died to match. Steering wheel, head-unit have been replaced. Paint: Very high quality, full respray, very good condition. Driver's quarter damaged and repaired. Mechanically: Car stated to be in very good condition. Cosmetically: Stated to be "very good" in and out. A binder of records, COA, books and manual. NOTE: Car was ordered along with a matching Cab and Targa by a Porsche Dealer. All 3 cars have rear vents and a wooden dash plate. A fellow enthusiast believes this is an "EX-Works" installation and though not on the options sticker nor COA, may well have been performed by factory. Any thoughts?? Greatly appreciated.

My favorite thread
Thanks to this thread and proximity to @skvintage I was able to acquire this utterly captivating beauty...
I recently re-deleted the tea tray tail that a previous owner added sometime between 1987 and 2018. I deleted the foglights in conjunction with a Club Sport style front valance and added a 930 front lip spoiler.

Per this thread, I acquired it in March of '18 and it has been pure joy ever since.
Car is a repaint, albeit to a reasonably high standard (front bumper had some flaws, so I repainted that and did the front valance, H4 rings and "display" license plate at the same time). She is due for a top end. So, I think the transaction price was a pretty fair deal for both buyer and seller. It did take me four years of daily searching to find the car. Given the rarity of G50 M491 coupes, I definitely had to adhere to the adage that it takes patience to find these cars and then speed to act when the one becomes available.
The best part for me is that because the car has 100k+ miles and is a repaint, I don't have any qualms about driving it. My '88 is 59k miles and original paint (and a black cab too), and I don't drive it nearly as much. Someone's tagline on PP is... Your classic car owns you, but you own your hot rod. I've found that to be pretty true.
On the one hand, I'd rather not have to shell out for a top end, but on the other hand... I am excited about building a rev happy 3.4.
