Hello,

New to the forum, young amateur european car mechanic. Own and repair several old BMWs, Volvos, MGs. Haven't got in the Porsche game yet.

At a private yard I found an older 911S. Uncertain on the year, but looking to get some information and possible insight in to the potential value of purchasing and reselling for parts/complete.

See below pictures. Feel free to publicly or privately respond. Looking for any info on year, trim, condition, value, etc..

Obviously its repaint, with accident damage, and poor repair (fiberglass front quarter re-damaged), obvious serious rot damage as well. But some fenders a solid, decklids, floors pretty okay, fuchs there.

Let me know your thoughts? Lets keep this constructive. Thanks everyone!

there is a Regeneration thread, so this could be a Degeneration thread

for an S, the VIN plate alone is often worth money to an unscrupulous person

you have much more than that but it is not clear how much

you should get out there with a weekwhacker and clean everything away from the car, clear a path of a tow truck and get to a dry storage area, or at least a spot on a slab

assess structural damage at that point

This may be a new record for rust.

The VIN plate, the engine and transmission may be of value.

Maybe use the brake calipers as cores.

Now the question is about the price.

I think that thing is too far gone ... you don't mention if the engine or transmission is still in it.

That's some rust colored GOLD for sure.....

Anything can be saved given the time, the money, the parts. With that amount of rust on the top, it surely will have nothing left at the bottom. Bring a large garbage bin to pick up under where it has sat when it gets moved.

I have seen far worse taken back to new. NOT for the faint of heart for sure. ( my own mind and pockets would not sustain it, but I am a little weak as I get older )

Anything early longhood in an S should have an attempt made to bring it around. We're probably talking in the hundreds of thousands if you value your time wisely. And, you may be upside down for a while..... BUT, it WILL be yours. It WILL be rewarding in the end.

Because before about 5 years ago they were worth their weight in scrap metal.

not for an energetic young man who owns a body shop

the OP said he is a mechanic and he is also in Europe - if in a low labor E. European country then it can be reconstituted for much less than what it would sell for in W. Europe...

and if it has a matching #'s motor...

I'm curious too! Recently rescued a 87 944. I know of a 911 in a driveway on a secluded road. It's been there sinking into the pavement for 8 years at least.. it could be longer for all I know.
The shrubs have now almost completely engulfed the car. I was curious what a reasonable would be.
