Default Sc Answer...

To the best of my knowledge, SC stands for 'Super Carrera'.
Cheers,
Paul.

It doesn't stand for anything AFIK, though people like to match English words to the letters to make something plausible.
What did the "A" in 356A stand for?
What did the "B" in 356B stand for?
What did the "C" in 356C stand for?
What did the "SC" in 356SC stand for?

According to Porsche from the 40 fast years website, it stands for "Super Carrera".

From the website:

"In 1978, this 911 SC (S for Super and C for Carrera) is the only 911 with a naturally aspirated engine. From 1980, it is available with 188 bhp and from 1981 with 204 bhp."

If Porsche themselves says it stands for Super Carrera why would one think that it stands for nothing? Right then Super Carrera it is! or SC....

There was large debate on Pelican several times. There is no period documentation from Porsche that calls it a super carrera only SC. This name is a later invention. "A rose by any other name..."
