Default Behold! My brand new '74 911 Targa

After a year and a half looking for an SC, only an SC, nothing but an SC so help me God, I finally bought... a middie. Took me a while but I finally realized what I really wanted was the oldest 911 I could afford. The narrow body look and the chrome trim really grew on me.

On the occasion of this solemn announcement I'd like to thank all the good people on this forum who patiently helped me and provided me with their expert opinions on the few dozen cars I kicked the tires on before I settled on this one: Cobalt, Amber Lamps, The Iceman, GT Gears and a few more - you know who you are.

So here we go: 74 Targa in Gemini Blue. Bought it quasi-sight unseen: sent it for a PPI but didn't get to see it with my own eyes or drive it. Turned out ok, it's highly imperfect, much more so than I thought it would be, and I knew I was paying too much (it's a flip of a flip after all), but it's got a lot of potential, and still should make for an ok driver in the immediate future.

I picked it up on Thursday, and I already put 225 miles on it. What a wonderful sassy little car! I love it! So refreshing to get to drive a simple basic car with zero electronics, power nothing, and a zesty little engine that revs freely. I

I'm gonna drive the **** out of it over the summer, make a list of all things I want addressed, then when the first snow comes I'll leave it in the capable hands of Jim at Auto Associates and by next spring it'll be a cream puff.

Sorry for the picture which isn't great, but gives the idea.

Targa's look so much better with brushed aluminium roll hoop - never liked Targa with black roll hoops that seemed to be the favoured option on SC & 3.2 - beautiful colour & with cookie cutters too. Perfect.

Truly a beauty! You will love ripping her around, especially w/ the top off.
What's the details on her, such as options, mileage, et. Not looking for a price, just the fun stuff. My 3.2 Targa came pretty loaded. It has AC / headlamp washers (was that an option?), climate control, cruise control, etc.

Sweet !!

Great color and it has the opening vent windows.

I almost picked up a 74 Targa back in 2006, the 2.7 sounded great and it was a blast to drive but after a close inspection I found lots of bondo in the rear fenders and doors.

Good luck and enjoy !!

Rick, that car looks great. I recently picked up an 82 SC, but I'm a huge fan of the chrome look. The middies just look nice and clean and your color is great. Funny thing I have come to realize too………even when I thought my car was pretty sorted, its not until you've had it for a while that you begin to realize how much needs to be done. I actually think that's part of the pleasure of ownership……slowly over time working on getting everything repaired, replaced, tweaked until she's just right again. BTW, I probably overpaid for mine too, but in the long run and the grand scheme it doesn't worry me. Congrats! She's a beaut.

Odo shows 13k, the assumption is it turned over once. With no records to back that up, we can call it True Mileage Unknown.

Options as per window sticker: 5-speed transmission, Option group - K07 (whatever that was), Front oil cooler, 911S gauges, Air con, leather-covered steering wheel (that will need to be recovered)

It was for sale on ebay several months ago. I got intrigued but then I hesitated and in the end I bought it from another dealer for a few grand more
