RSR pics
The choices are infinite when trying to pick out a certain RSR to replicate it's. But if I were trying to decide, it would ge easy. White. White is the proper color for a race car. Almost all Porsche race cars came in white originally. Not to mention most BMW's, and just about everything else. 935s came in white, so did 962s and so on. If they were painted some other color when raced, it was due to sponsorship requirements. I like the look of a race car in white. A Porsche race car in white has that undecorated, unmolested showroom fresh look that no other color can capture. I don't know if it is because that is the color they almost always come in or if it is the color itself. Think about a factory fresh 934RSR or 993GT2 and what color comes to mind. Race cars are tools, not display pieces. Hence the color white. Besides, it's a practical color that is easy to touch up.

Actually, the official color for Germany was white. But due to some German cars being entered without paint to save weight, silver became the official color. And that stayed in effect throughout the sixties. But by the time brand new full race 911s started being produced by Porsche, post 911R, they were mostly delivered in white. Though I have a feeling most 911Rs were white. This is still in effect today with the GT3RS. Race cars are like refrigerators or base specification full size pickups used for work. Tools built for a purpose. Chances are they will come in white. Unless something else is specified. And it usually is not since unlike street cars, color is the last thing on a race car buyer's mind. Color changes usually come later depending on sponsorship. The only major difference in color between the racing 911s of the seventies and ones from the nineties onwards, has been the color of the interior. In the seventies, the all came painted in satin black. By the nineties they all came in the color of the exterior. Which was, again, mostly white.
