Default Thinking about buying a Porsche

Hi Everyone - -

A friend reccomended I check this forum out and I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction? I want to buy a carrera, manual transmission, coupe. Willing to spend between $50 and $75K. Live in LA and am not sure who is a reputable car dealer or used lot. Any way I can start researching this purchase? Apologies if there is a thread on this.

Thanks.

You can really pick/choose in that price range.
When you find a car have an inspection done and a very thorough PPI.
I'd check with your local PCA for local cars so you can get a feel for what you are looking for.

Are you wanting an air cooled car or a water cooled car? Even after you've made that choice you have many details to work out. What series Carrera interests you??? ....may be an easier question to answer.

Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI). Porsche Club of America (PCA).

Maybe a better question would be what year range were you thinking about?

Yes - regarding the year - - I want as new of a model as possible for my money's worth. Always wanted a Porsche and I think now is the time.

you need to go to the 997-991 water cooled section... with that kind of money, I would look at a 2007 turbo, not a Carrera.

the best values right now are the 07 turbos. they are fast, reliable, loaded, and depreciated almost entirely. i don't see how an 07 turbo can be in the 40-50s in the next year or two.

check 6speedonline, PCA.org, pelicanparts.com, renntech.org, excellence-mag.com and most of all, pay for a rennlist membership. this community will save you a lot of time and money.

good luck and have fun in your search.
