Porsche / 911 Technical specs book
Hi all, new time member, and recently caught the 911 bug (I always liked them, but I'm just obsessed at the moment).
I'm looking for a book that would provide technical details on all of the air cooled 911s, but if the book has specifications on later 911s and other Porsches too and is worth it, I don't mind paying more.
Specifically, I mostly want official engine specs, but also car specs and finer details. It seems on the internet power is mostly consistent, but torque and even weight deviate quite a bit from one page to another, so having a published book/e-book with these details would be fantastic.
I had tried to bump an old thread, but I realise it was under the 997 section, which I guess wouldn't be checked as often? Maybe their earlier posts would also fit my request too? - https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...l#post11160271

You will want the Bentley that corresponds to your era car. I've got this one for my '88:
Several of our site sponsors have them available for various years:

EDIT: I just looked at your link and realized you are not looking for actual shop info, but rather comparative data.
May I suggest Dr Zimmermann's book:

Thanks all,
amber lamps, thanks for the idea, booko.com.au showed the only place that had it new was in the US, and in total it'd cost more than $180? Bit of a gamble for an unknown, I couldn't find it anywhere else in AUS on google or ebay.
rusnak, those little spec books are still around, but are a little too specific, if I just wanted specs for one model, they're about $20 each and seem like a good idea, I may still buy one in the future if this book doesn't pan out, but to get all the information it still might be a $100-150 dollar affaire :/
It is hard to know what is in the book without buying it, so the cheapest most local one I could find was the 'Porsche Data Book' reccommended by kshafer1, was only $14, and near me too which is good. I'll post what's in it (data types), when it arrives so this thread may be useful to others in the future.
I'm surprised more people on here don't have books on 911s themselves they could've reccommended.

Well the book arrived today, and it's pretty much amazing, I don't think you'd need any other book EXCEPT, that it stops with the cars of the time - 2006... But that's the english translation, it was originally publishedi in german in 2004, so the latest cars are all MY 2005, which is a small pity.
But 2006-2014 specs for cars (any cars) are quite readily available, and from multiple non-conflicting resources, so if I wanted to know all about 997s, 991s, the two generations of Cayman, ect, I'm sure I'd be fine - for a book on air cooled 911s it will forever be complete.
Especially at the very low price I paid, I highly reccommend it.

Good to hear the book was what you were looking for. I've had that book for a few years and refer to it every so often. Perhaps one day it will be updated with new information. The other book I like to refer to is the "Porsche 911 Red Book" by Patrick Paternie. It is obscenely expensive for such a tiny little book, but I was lucky to pick up one with a damaged cover for cheap recently.
