83 911sc shocks
I have the Boge struts. The shocks are tired. I plan to mostly use this on the street and some DE and Ax. I don't mind a bit stiffer ride for street use. I am looking at the Bilstein sports all around. Is this a good set up?
There are 2 Bilstein sports for Boge struts listed with pricing almost the same. First, Pelican shows these for the turbo and doesn't reference the non-turbo. Will these work for my car? What is the difference between the two models?

I have Bilstein Sports all around and love them . I think i got them at shox.com. ( item 027 i think ) some like HDs in the front but i love mine and have had no issues..
Pelican shows fronts for (911 and turbo) up to 84 ( sc ) and after 84 (carrera ) the first two are if you have Bogue struts
they also show if you have original Bilsteins.
I think all the rears ae the same as they are just straight bolt ons.
shox.com looks to be a fair bit cheaper for the kit though ...
what you may want to inquire about is the "strut tool " . the tool that is used to tighten your inserts into the boge housing...
good luck ...

Here is how I read the Pelican Parts website: The two listings for Bilstein Sports for Boge struts are for cars built prior to 4/85 (34-001134-M712) and cars built after that (34-001158-M712). They should work on both NA 911s and 911 Turbos.

Are you also changing the torsion bars?
When I started my refresh I had no plans to go to bigger bars, but as I progressed in DE, I decided to go to 23mm/30mm solid torsion bars, and found that my new Bilsteins (HD front and Sport rear) were not optimal, so I sent them to Elephant Racing to be revalved to better match the spring rate. So basically I spent double the money, plus double the shipping costs. If you are going to bigger torsion bars, you might consider getting the shocks done right the first time and maybe save a few bucks.

In back either HD or sport
when you go to bigger t-bars send them to Bilstein San Diego and have them custom valved w/ digressive valves, for a nominal fee, it will work miracles on the ride and handling

Ok, I did more reading. My understanding is that fluid was there in OEM Boges. I have to take it off, dump the fluid, and clean it well. So I guess it's time for turbo tie rods and new ball joints.
It sounds like there are differing thoughts on putting fluid in the strut - some say oil, some say antifreeze, and some say leave it dry. I guess the fluid just transfers heat. What do you think?

Leave it dry, and man have you jumped in or what?
Tell everyone you are going to re-weld the spindles higher up on the struts and watch the heads explode. Some things are better left off the board.
