Happy new 911 owner
Hello,
Yesterday, I finally bought an '86 coupe after years of dreaming.
I was initially looking for an 87-89, aiming for the G-50 transmission. In the end I went for an '86, and I'm very happy with the 915.
Overall, I just love the feedback the car gives you: the lack of power steering, the throttle response, the feel of a perfect down-shift... I could go on and on.
Dreams do come true. May anyone who reads this recollect their own sweet and early 911 memories.

Congrats! My father and I have been dreaming about getting a 911 for many many years and restoring it to it's original beauty. One week ago we scored on a 1974 911 with 114,000 original miles and roughly 17,000 on a fully rebuilt 2.7 R.O.W. engine!
This is the first Porsche we have ever been in and absolutely love it! Everything is so well designed. I am smiling from ear to ear every day.

Welcome to the madness.
I also have a '86 coupe (red/blk) that i purchased 2 yrs ago after years of dreaming. Like you, i was initially looking for a G50, but i'm not regretting my purchase. (imho, the G50 'ain't all that'). Still can't wipe that silly grin off my face
Enjoy.

Congrats on your new purchase! I purchased an '87 Targa last Friday. This is my sixth Porsche. No matter which year or model you drive, these cars are incredibly fun to drive. Take good care of it and you'll get tons of enjoyment out of it! Post some pics of your new ride.

Hello again,
Thanks for the replies: here's the only picture I've taken so far (hoping that the attachment thing works).
For once, I'm looking forward to my commute. I might even take a detour (twist my arm!).

Congrats on your '86! I love the Carreras. My '86 will always be special to me. When I recently picked up my '96 993 C4S I had initial plans to sell my Carrera. But, I loved the feel of the Carrera so much that I've decided to keep it.
Have fun with your car. It's worth every moment.

Hmmm...my "joys of the first few weeks of ownership" have been slightly displaced since my first 911 blew up 2 days after I bought it. On the way home, in fact. But...new motor will finally go in within a couple of weeks, and I'll get to enjoy my first few weeks of "working car" ownership! Maybe I can speak to someone about extending summer a few more weeks....
