Nice project, looking forward to seeing it complete.

I sold my car 2 years ago, but never advertised it. I built it myself, engine, suspension, brakes, etc. Wasn't over the top, but had a lot of nice things done to her. My estimate of 1/2 recoup is based on doing most of the work yourself. I don't have my build sheet handy on my iPad. But, any thread here with the name "Ruby" in the title was about her.

Ed, Can you imagine the hit you would have taken had that car not been built by you? Think of the many hundreds of man hours that went into it. Ruby was far and away the nicest, most track worthy, car ever posted about here. Ya, I can think of a certain east coast individual that will think otherwise, but it is none the less true. Ruby was hands down the best 911 to ever leave me and mine, in it's dust.

Indeed, it woulda been painful to sell in that event. I look at it as a fun hobby over the 10 years I had her, I know people who spend more to golf annually.

You're too kind with your words. She was a pretty nice car, for one that was street legal. She held her own against a lot of new beasts, in the San Diego back country, and spent many a lap in fun at MSR, Eagles Canyon, TMS, Willow and Fontana. Just a toy, in the end, and I learned a lot about Porsches through her. And, "just a Targa"....

Ed,

Did you see the new thread on the '72 RS Tribute a guy is thinking about buying? I haven't found Ruby, but I have to believe she was at least as nice as this car. The seller is asking $40k and the potential buyer is looking for advice. This would be inline with the pricing I was thinking about.

I've not seen this. It seems the "themed" cars can get a bit more, as they may be what someone has pictured.

Here's are some nice shots of Ruby over the years, and also a clip of her on the dyno. Go to about 1:10 in, and hear her song:

Ed,

I can see why those that knew Ruby were signing her praises, she looks great. I love her sound when she is a bit angry. What were the numbers from the dyno?

Thanks-she was about 227HP/207 tq at the wheels. 3.2 punched to 10.3:1 3.4 with stock Motronic injection, cams, headers, twin-plugged. Highly illegal in the state of Calif, and the stress of me worrying about Jerry Brown knocking on my door forced me to sell her.

So where did she get shipped off to? She could probably list a peaceful existence here in Texas, so long as she isn't in you of the non-attainment counties
