M491 Value Add?
Am going to look at what is represented to be a 491 optioned 86 coupe. I recently read the threads that deal with how to properly ID one.
I have an 'ok' handle on the normal 3.2 coupe market, so if this turns out to be a true 52k mile 491, is there a way - with all else being equal - to take a stab at 'adjustment' for the wide body option?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

One can´t make it that easy -
1. I have about 12 cars in my fakefolder that have the right brakes and everything it needs but no M491 in their codes ( Turbos also be slaughtered) ...
2. Lots original M491 DON´T have the M491 on their stickers!
2a. I run a small buiseness myself to recreate these stickers - so one NEVER can be sure that they are for real! www.open-S.de - for those who are interested
3. The early models did not have the M491 code but other signs that state them as Original. I have listed lots of cars from 1983 on.
4. Don´t trust too much in your CoA - not right anytime and in any way ...
Best way is to ask Turbo-Look Register, you are always welcome. I know them all by VIN

Well, just got the 'ok' from Norbert, making this my NCA! (Norbert Certificate of Authenticity).
This was/is truly the "M491 in a Barn". A friend of mine told me of this car, said it was in a barn about 12-15 miles north of me in nowhere-ville. Turns out, I was heading that way the same day, called the dude, set up a meeting. Inspected the stickers, booklet, brakes, et cetera. Drove the car til the fan belt broke! But it ran like a champ, shifted great. It also looked authentic (though still deciphering codes) yet wrote Norbert for the scoop.
Made the deal with the guy, left a deposit, am to pick it up this weekend. "Wow" is all I can say.
Have had maybe 20 3.2 Carreras over many years, cherished a few. I look forward to playing with this one for a while.

I've seen the work you did on your prior 3.2s. Please ping me when your attention span has expired with this one!
What are the details? Interior/exterior color, special options?
Enquiring minds want to know!

Yes, my wife says I do this merely to exorcise project demons, handing off a perfectly good car to someone with good financial forecasting and a sense of self-preservation.
Has a Fabspeed or some kind of aftermarket twin exit exhaust, actually sounds pretty darn good. Motor compartment is normal, which is to say weepy and unpleasant. I will have the motor extracted and hopefully I'll get to detail another one! Yay me! It is very healthy according to the long term tech who serviced the car (same guy services my stuff, knows I'm a freak about maintenance.)
Anyway, the car is just another vintage fun thing that could be driven and enjoyed again, very easily. The look from the rear was enough to make me pull out my wallet. Gosh that thing has got the freakin hips.
So, let the fun begin. Oh, no pics til I pick it up on Saturday!
