Default center console delete

I want to do some more weight reduction measures on my car. On one hand side it is totally bizarre to rip out perfectly good parts but I started it already and so going back is not an option.

On thing I might want to delete is the center console. Here's my question. While the 915 shifter is a nice pice of machinery to look at without the console and boot, the G50 shifter is not. What are the ideas to make the G50 shifter without a console look nice? The carpet in that area would go at the same time.

Well Horst in mY humble opinions all the go fast Porsches with big weight reduction look ugly anyway .. carpets ripped out, back seats out etc .. they are just cages with a seat ..

The WEVO G-50 shifter looks nice. I also don't care for the bare-bones look. All to save .10 sec on the way to the grocery store.

You do realize that .10 can make the difference in getting that parking spot you know!

Well that was quick. I value your opinions about the weight reduction, I fully understand your thoughts. Why I bought a very nice 911 and then do this is not really to explain. But as posted before, my back seats are gone, my rear carpet is gone, my stock seats are replaced so doing anything half assed has no point. But I will certainly keep my sunroof and will not install any plastic doors. However very likely the rear bumper will be replaced with a carbon fiber one. But only one being identical to stock, there is a German company building them.

Concerning the shifter, as far as I understand for 600 bucks you get some parts of the shifter providing shorter shifts, but the housing stays identical. They assume the shifter will be covered by the standard boot and console.

I just installed a Hargett G50 shifter in my car,i also removed the center console and it leaves a big hole where the stock shifter was but it sure looks good otherwise !

All kidding aside,i will cover the hole and once i install the RS carpet kit this Winter,my car interior should look somewhat presentable again

Cheers

That's correct Horst, but i had headers on my car and now a newly installed 3.6 so it doesn't matter anymore. You can still use the flapper levers and the heater controls could be installed somewhere else if you extend the wires.

I have the Fabspeed headers with heater boxes and it does supply a minimal amount of warm air for defrosting purposes !

Cheers

What does the bare G50 look like? Post a pic, never saw a naked one.
Hey, I stripped my car to and like it for the xtra performance (once you drop almost 400 lbs) and I like the look with the RS doors, carpet, etc. etc.
I just saved all of that girly man amenities crap if I ever sell it to a girlie man.

I'm with you Horst. Going to tackle the supreme diet on the new to me G50 this fall/winter. Gotta keep the heat and controls though. Love to see how that's been handled by others in these cars.

Keeping the heat, if you backdate, still loses some weight and cleans up the engine bay.
