Default Got my refinished wheels back

I got my Fuchs back from Wheel Enhancement today.
Now I just need to find a reputable shop to mount my tires.

Now that is a foxy set of Fuchs.

Question: Are the petals a blasted or painted surface?

It took me several attempts to get the outer rim surface to a finish I was happy with. I finally settled on glass beads and time. Lots and lots of time then a matte clear.

Wheel enhancements has really got it going on.

They strip & polish them, rough (or matte) anodize the petals and dish, clear anodize the rim, and then paint.

So They are done very similarly to the factory with the added step of polishing the lip. It's the silver color that has me puzzled. Is that color from the aluminum, or is it silver paint? On my wheels the silver color is the actual aluminum. On yours there are three distinct colors. The black, the polished lip, and the silver. It seems you are saying the matte silver is paint? It's kinda frosty in color. I tried that and wasn't happy with my results. Love the way yours look.

Those look fantastic, post a pic of them mounted. I like the idea of having everything re anodized and that matte look is the heat.
Didn't find a price list on their site...could you pm me approx. what this cost on your wheels? I'd like a ballpark fig if you would.

Thanks

No, the silver part is anodized as well. The only paint is the black.
I will try to get a good shot of the transition between the dish and the rim edge this evening and post it up.

cheers

I think the original was a clear anodize on the rim?

Edit: Yep. Just found my invoice. It says that the outer rim was clear anodized and the center is black paint. $875.00 each for two 9x16" Fuchs. Seems like a bargain now.

OK, now I really gotta give props to Wheel Enhancements. Getting a consistent finished texture in the aluminum is insanely difficult.

Well, if you look close there is some odd shading on the petals, depending on how the light hits them. Slightly darker patches from one angle, that become lighter patches from another. But from 6 feet away, you can't see it.

Makes sense. My first attempt with glass blasting gave me result I was super stoked about until after I shot the clear. Ended up letting the clear dry, masking off the black, and re-blasting the outer ring. Second time in the dry heat of the day to cut down on the moisture as that seemed to be the biggest culprit.

I assure you they spent many hours on your wheels to get them to look that good. Gotta be a craftsman and an artist with mad skills to pull off perfection on a wheel as complex as ours.

Default More pics

I got a couple more shots in the sun today.
One of the transition between the dish and the rim, and another of the slight inconsistency on the petals.

Believe it or not even fingerprints show up under the clear coat. I'm not at all surprised you can see that once you start looking for it. Trust me, it ain't easy. If you don't mind me posting more photos in your thread I'll take some shots tomorrow and show you the insane level of perfection required in the aluminum.....that then looks like crap once the clear is on.
