Default Searching... Thoughts on this car?

Motor sounds good, transmission is smooth. But I'm guessing I'm just not informed enough. Back seats would get installed back if I'd buy this.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Miles? Maint history (in writing or talking to PO and shop where done).
Read the threads on Pre Purchase inspections....you need one no matter how it sounds / feels. To include a leak down test and head stud check. Do not do this after purchase.
Hyd tensioners for the timing chains?
I'm not a fan of updating older models but it looks done well.

Thanks for reply.

I'm planning to do a PPI of course. This would be the 2-nd car if bought. Boxster being main commuter.

There are some records, but none on the rebuild of the motor, which has been done by a shop that i talked to. The car seems well taken care of, except for interior, which I would have to address (subwoofer removal included) I'm a bit confused on the layout of the motor, I havent had much experience with these.

Interior stuff is comp inexpensive. The PPI will tell you what you need to know and either back up or refute the rebuild info.
I learned as much from the minor PPI checks...recent motor mounts, newer brake lines, recent fuel filter and spark plug wires...things that indicate cont maint.

one more thing...visually updating a car in this manner actually reduces what it is worth, by a considerable amount.

Is it the photo or is the fan tilted backwards? Looks weird.

If you're looking for an $18K 911, you can do a lot better than that. The interior rehab could get costly getting all that crap out, and making it look right.

If you ever want to sell, you will find very few people that would be interested in such a conversion.

I think the angles the guy took the pics at are deceiving, and showing somewhat of an optical illusion. Probably a hidden warning-this car is "warped".

Thanks,

Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

The guy that did rebuild doesnt have any records (or doesnt want to disclose as it was done like 7 years ago)... Basically trying to figure if its worth another drive to take it to PPI.

Unless you're going to get that down to $12 or 13K, it's simply probably not going to make sense. At $18K, no way.

Another contender - http://www.paulmillerporsche.com/pre...119201301.html

these guys are known for ridiculous pricing. I drove this and it was very solid. Ton of records, but could not find any studs info..

Transmission done like 5k miles ago....

I been on a search for the perfect 911 sc and in most cases you can find a great car in the 14-18k range. At 20k+ it should be a lower mile car with all the records and etc. The Paul Miller car is nice but at 20k+ is a bit steep, low ball them

That one looks much nicer than the first abortion you posted. I would look for a list of what modifications have been performed as well. The turned speedo indicates that an aftermarket steering wheel was on it at some point and likely removed.

Best of luck in your search.
