Smile 1985 to 1973 widebody backdate project

Hello everyone. This is my 2nd 80's 911. I had an 86 and sold it :-(. I got an 85 last week and since now I know what it feels like to miss your love, I am making this one as good as it can be so I'll never want to part from it.
Early Porsche Parts Dave is doing all the work and I am super excited to get it back in my hands.

Its really exciting because in a sense I am creating a car the way I like it with ideas from many different cars that are out now. I have been spending days on the net looking at pics of a ton of p cars deciding how I want this and that, color, bumper, exhaust, interior etc.......

I will be posting pics as things are progressing for everyone to see.

Here are pics as is. It needs paint, proper wheels and tires and some minor fixes.

Plan is to go wide body off of a 80s turbo as well as back date the bumpers and interior.

Just going through all the great pics online and deciding what everything will be.

Front bumper will be 73rs.

Here are pics of the prep for the 73 bumpers. The turbo flares have been located and are on their way to me.

Here are the front and rear flares off an 86 turbo with small torsion plug, perfect for the rsr conversion. Just arrived!

Note: '73 and earlier cars are called "long hood" and '74 and later are called "short hood". If you are going to '73 you are talking about swapping out the hood as well as the bumpers. If you are retaining the impact bumper, even if you are going to a fiberglass version with brake ducts and single corner markers, you are staying with the "long hood"?

Are you going to retain your rear center reflector, or are you backdating it too?

Link to a picture of what you are thinking. This sounds like an awesome project most of us would love to do. I would, anyway. Looking forward to progress reports.

This would be the right way to go about it...

Holy Crap Jaime... How many banned members posted in that thread?

That is the way to do it, but that new hood that TRE has sure makes it easy. Either way I want!

Wide body flare installation- sorry for the tiny pic the forum will only allow so many kbs of pics so I had to shrink it to this size to get it to post.

So I can not add any more pics I am out of space with the forum. How do Increase the space? I am going to have way more pics.

Thank you

The way to increase space is to join and become a member. ~$17/yr.

You can also see others' photos
