New member, older car...
New here... not new to German cars. Picked up a 74 (older than me) 911 from a very caring previous owner who had it since 1986. Meticulous documentation and matched my taste in modifications. Many books including Porsche Spare Parts Catalogue Groups 1 thru 8 and Groups 9 thru N for 1974-1977. I'm still combing through the receipt pile in order to determine exactly what has been done but I already feel quite fortunate to have taken over the care-taking duties for this car. Anyway, wanted to share this car that has likely never seen the internet with a crowd that might appreciate. Feel free to call out anything you might recognize as a far more seasoned P car enthusiast than myself. There are original sales materials from Porsche Mail Order aka PMO for the carbs and I've been told the pistons/heads/distributor are RS items although I need to learn how to determine if that is true; I believe the rear 1/4s are grafted SC flares:

I do have some body work and paint in my future:
You can see a chip in one of the pictures above on the engine panel cover and an indicator this will need door skin bottoms here:
The previous restoration was done in 1991 by a company in western Massachusetts.

Thanks - in the quick research I did prior to viewing this during pre-inspection I found the '74 to be the year to go to for early models. I didn't plan to purchase but couldn't walk away after driving it and discovering the health and level of sorting.

wow that is sharp .. are those 15s on it or 16s ? there just seems to be a lot of rubber compared to the rim. Nice Euro bumperettes on the back give it a much cleaner look .

Fronts are 205/55/15
Rears are 225/50/15
Euro bumperettes you say? Do you have what the bumper would look like unaltered? Prev owner said the name plate between the tails was a euro piece but didn't mention the bumperettes... and of course I'm curious to learn what I have here.

look at the bottom of my avatar .. see the big Black things ? those are North American bumperettes .. the plate is narrower and the bumperette is wider. Now look at yours .. space for the wide european plate so thebumperettes are skinny ( the black things ) .
I think your wheels may be original .. i doubt someone would make knock off 15's
If you could land a set of fuchs 16s for that car I would go for it. They are not cheap but they can be found.
Not sure how far a drive it is but you would definitely find something at hershey next year.

Um, '74s has STANDARD what someone else called the "euro" bumperettes . In '75, the US cars got the largere rear bumperettes while the "euro" cars continued to use the smaller ones.
Is it a Base or "s" spec car? My folks had a 74S for a number of years. Only had to rebuild the motor once!
Rims look like 7x15 front and 8x15 rear
The "lip" of the rear flare looks more like "RS" style than "SC" style to my eye. Its a taller looking "lip".

Also, found this yesterday after it knocked a plug wire off:
The engine is very fresh in many areas and I was told these are dilivar so it looks like I have a weekend or two planned. Out comes the engine, off go the heads/jugs...all new gaskets/rings/Supertec hardware and back together again is the plan.

no older cars didnt have that . i dont think that started till late 80s . You could try and get a certificate of Authenticity ( COA ) from Porsche. Would cost about a hundred bucks but is a nice momento. Would show at least some things if not all.

oh that is NOT good.
You have a magnesium case if its a 74. I doubt thats a broken stud if thats the case and more like you have pulled out of the case. Time certs have not been done on this car i am thinking. Dont wanna be a pesimist but this could be a major tear down and case splitting experience to fix properly.
Hopefully its just a broken stud and the case inserts are fine .
