PPI in Austin Texas
Well as some of you know, I am getting a 1988 DP 911 Cab from someone in Austin, TX. So now the question is where to get a PPI down there. I will also contact the local PCA chapter and see what they say. I am hoping that there are several shops. I have all ready talked to his wrench, but an outside opinion would be nice. Gotta CYA you know?

I recommend TPWS (Formerly Targa Porsche Work Shop)on N. Lamar Blvd.
Porsche only, extremely knowledgable, and highly experienced...best in Austin IMHO.
I have seen lots of cars come thru there that are being "re-repaired" from work done at other local shops.
The owner, Matt is very honest and gets it right the first time...always. Always thorough on any job, and you'll know every nuance of a candidate car when the PPI is complete...critical for a conversion car like a DP.
Good luck.

Thanks guys. I also contacted the PCA Region 5 head. He forwarded me to a guy named Clark Grigsby who is at Scott's Autohaus in Georgetown. He is located about 25 miles north of Austin and done racing work as well as being involved with PCA. I ahve received several other messages recommending him.
The guy who owns the car (vague on purpose) has it worked on at a shop on Hancock Drive. I have talked to Casey (the mechanic who worked on the car there) and he says the car is in good shape. Dyno'ed right at where Porsche specified, some little stuff but no major repairs. Have you seen the car around town? It's a 1988 DP Motorsport Cab that should be hard to miss.
Thanks again!

Moorespeed, TPWS, and Scott's are all good. I use Moorespeed. If the car is black, I have seen it once or twice. It looked clean and nice from a distance, for what that is worth.

Just a quick update. I will be using Moorespeed for the simple reason that it is more convenient for the owner to take it there. I was going to use Scott's Autohaus, who I might add came highly recommended, but the logistics of long distance buying over-ruled that. After I talk to David down there I will be flying to Austin to pick up my car. The excitement builds, just hope for good weather in the next week or so!

I know David, and Moorespeed is a very good shop. Most of the Porsche owners in Austin are very advid about their cars ! If it was serviced at Colvins Automotive, he does good work also, so you are bound to get a good car.If you have a chance... Scotts shop is right off I-35 North on your way out of town, stop by and visit, he always has some very nice cars in there. Best of luck on your "new" car !
