Default Value? 86 911 Cab, turbo body, 32K miles

Hi all,

First post here, but I've been a long time lurker.

My co-worker is thinking of selling his 1986 911 Cab with 32K miles, turbo body, black on black, very original. Original owner from new. No accidents. Perfect condition. Always garaged.

Any ballpark of what price to ask?

I tried searching autotrader, but there aren't any cars similar to his.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Without seeing pictures and no information on records I would have to guess. $28K-$34K.

i didnt think they made a turbo look cab in 86 so i am thinking this would have started life as something else. If i am wrong could be worth the numbers jay is stating. if not then not worth much in my eyes as it is a fabbed non original car .. just my 2 cents tho .

there is a turbo look coupe for sales on the net for 29 so there is a starting point.

Turbo-Look.de says that, in 1985, the turbo-look cab could be ordered officially.

http://www.turbo-look.de/911-en.php

However, Excellence doesn't specifically list Turbo-Look Cabs as being available for that model year. The range given for a 1986 Turbo-look coupe in 2011 was: $21800 - $29000. The 1986 Cab, same year, is listed as ranging from $21800 - $30100. But I didn't see a range for Turbo-look cabs.

http://www.excellence-mag.com/resour...uide/211641324

I DID see this in the Excellence write-up though:
One specialty version of the 911 Carrera 3.2 was the Turbo-look, which resembles the 911 Turbo in appearance (but not performance). It was introduced in 1984 in coupe version only, and then built as a coupe, Targa, and Cabriolet from 1985 through 1989. The Turbo-look package added about $10,000 to the price in its first year and then increased to about $14,000 by 1989. Turbo-look Cabriolets are rare and can command a premium in some markets. One of the most popular specialty versions was the 911 Speedster, made for 1989 only. Of these, 1,939 had the Turbo-look option. All 800 cars that came to the U.S. were Turbo-look models.

I'd say only 27-33k.

That is if it is a M491. If it is homemade, subtract a lot of money from these guesstimates.

According to the German turbo-look registry ( http://www.turbo-look.de/ ) there were 226 USA M491 cabriolets manufactured.

Ed is correct, a M491 factory turbo look has a considerably higher resale value than an equivalent "conversion". I've had both.

Huh? With all of the factory or aftermarket fenders and flares available, there have been (I guess) thousands "homemade" over the years. Same with slant nose cars-probably more fakes than factory.

And a half dozen or so helped pay for law school way back in the wheelhouse of that craze.

I had a few M491 cab customer cars when I had my shop going in Phoenix when those were new. (I had the only non-dealer alignment rack, and charged about half what the dealer did to lower/align. Got my hands on a LOT of new/near new cars. That rack and Hunter alignment machine was one of the top investments in shop equipment I've ever made.)

Oh, and to specifically show what you can do at home, take a look at how my cousin morphed from helping me with the slantnoses, then into RS conversions, and finally www.newhistorics.com. The 910 was entirely built (including making the body out of leftover cloth from 1967 when they originally made the cars) in a residential garage in San Ramon.

Sure, they made M491 cabs in 1986! I have one. If everything checks out on this car, it sounds great. Low miles, original owner, primeval car phone...

GLWS! More pictures please...we like pictures...

I've found a few M491 cabs for sale in the $40Ks and $50ks. Sloan Cars has two 1987s in the mid-$40Ks.

I've yet to find a black on black.
