1970 Crystal Blue 911E Targa at Salt Lake City Parade Concours
My wife & I arrived yesterday at the PCA Parade event hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a 7 hour drive from our mountain home in Vail Valley, Colorado. Spent all day today prepping car for Monday's Concours in a pretty hot underground garage where all concours entrants are parked together. Still have all day tomorrow to work on the car. It's being entered in the 'Preservation' Group, so originality is the primary focus of this particular judging exercise.
The car's color is 'Crystal Blue', a very rare factory hue. It has 55K original miles, original paint, interior, etc. This car was on the cover of the 4th issue of 'Gmund Magazine' back in 1980 and it has been kept in a remarkable prestine condition by each of its three custodians. I first saw this car in 1980 when I lived in NYC. 28 years later I finally convinced its second owner to sell it to me! It was worth the long wait!
Will keep you all informed on this Parade Concours experience via posts on this thread!

Eduardo

Some more photos of early cars prepping for the Concours tomorrow!
I am off to bed early since we start moving cars to the State of Utah Capital's ground at 5:30 AM tomorrow! Should have plenty of photos tomorrow of all the early 911's at this year's Parade!

Hi Eduardo!,
Love your crystal blue Targa. Didn't you show that one at the CO parade and win an award with it? I almost came to this years Parade with one of my cars. I wanted to enter the concours and be a part of the action. Oh well, I'll have to live vicariously through your posts. Please keep them coming!
Is that a real Glocker?
What's with the rat rod 911? Looks like it is going to be shown @ concours? I see a Parade placard on the front floor.
Good luck @ the big show this year Eduardo. Have fun and take lots of pics for those of us not lucky enough to be there ourselves.

If you look at the dash, you will see an aluminum round badge with the name Glocker & Porsche. I happen to own one of these rare badges. It was actually attached to the side (opposite of the Reutter badge) of every Porsche the dealership of Glocker sold as a means of promotion. It has their telephone number which is so early in the 1950's that it only has 5 digits!

Thanks, that is an great read.
This #3 GP is really a beautifully proportioned purpose built car...the lines look both classic and modern at the same time and I guess that is a good definition of 'timeless'.
Great badge! I'll give Otto a phone call and see if he can whip up another #3.......
