Default Stupid (very !) question

Newbie here (as green as they come !) Where do you put the Targa roof when not in use ? In the trunk ? (...at least I know that's in front ! lol !)

thats not so stupid a question as you might imagine ..

The targa roof as you may know is a foldable vinyl roof. But keeping your roof in good condition is paramount. For wind noise, water lakage and general apearance.

Fixing or recovering these things is ridiculously expensive and there are companies who can aford to exist doing only this.

That being said you are suppose to fold it up and put it in the trunk . i NEVER do this as the folding can deform crease or crack an aging roof.
I always keep mine up on the wall on a couple of vinyl hangers. If i have to take it with me i wrap it in a couple of nice colour coordinated blankets and slip it behind the front seats. Not perfect but my roof still looks and works great .

The only other piece of advice i can give you is leave the handles in the roof ( there are two " handle tools " you use to fasten down the roof. ) from the inside. If the roof is not locked down properly , which is usually caused by someone asking questions about ur awesome car as you are trying to put your roof in and distracting you, you can not lift the sun visors if the tools are in place .. an instant clue that it isnt fastened down before you pull away .

You only have to make this mistake once .... it is a VERY expensive mistake when the cars behind you run over your roof ...

Thanks for the precious advice Mr Iceman. I tought the top was made of just one rigid piece. Is it true that 90% of them leak ?

BTW, I checked every Carrera manual but couldn't find that special edition engine lid support of yours (...LOVE IT)

Mine is now well over 100K and is folded at will and remains fully functional and neat in appearance. And yes, it leaks, always has.

Not that I plan on driving the car under pooring rain very often, but what happens during a sudden shower ? Are you're seats wet if the car is parked outside ?

Anyone knows if the cabriolet top is better and/or lest costly to restore ?

Your input is very appreciated

I think the Cab top replacement cost might lead your insurance co. to total your car.

Russell, come on. That is funny, but could lead a fool into cardiac arrest.

The OE rag top is $600ish... Putting it on could set you back a bit more.

What's it cost to redo the targa top?

Mine doesnt leak water at all.. but i do have some wind moise so it is fair to say it leaks air at speed...

Biut of course i must have had it in about 10 times in the last 8 years .. yes and i live in Canada too. There is nothing like driving around with my gloves and touqe in November with the sun shining and no roof..

Sudden shower..?

Pull well off the road and "snap" the top on in 2-3 minutes.

Or...

Drive FASTER..!!
