Question if you were stranded??? parts?? relays??

i have had a couple very dependable sc 3.0 911's in the last couple years and they have never left me stranded. so i dont know by experience. it would be a little unsettling if i had to leave one of my babies along side the road. if a guy was to put together a limp home widget kit, mainly engine and electrical related, what would you have?? (pending nothing major, that you couldnt fix along the road). i was thinking along with some tools, possibly an xtra fuel pump and filter. i guess where i'm lost, is there some certain relays, parts, specialty tools that you should carry just in case? if you have any ideas or experiences please share them. thanks

I am new to the life b/c I pick up my first 911SC next week, but from what I have been told, it's a good idea to keep an extra fan belt, a few fuses, and if its a 3.2, an extra DME.

A extra J-Pipe would be good too because this is the achilles heel of the 911. The J-pipe is the oil tube that is right in the throwing path of the passenger side rear tire. If anything of any mass is thrown up in this area or if you run over anything the rubber pipe can be severed and ALL oil can be loss. This pipe tends to get hard too due to heat causing it to be brittle.

Extra fuses, relays (headlight and fuel)

Just my 1/50th of a dollar,

I think I changed mine twice in the 5 years I had my SC.

For a MINIMUM...extra fan belt & tools needed to replace it. Running without a fan belt can cause severe overheating with resultant engine damage right away. The second you lose a fan belt, pull over...

fan belt, fuses, and clutch cable. everything else is too major to be doing on the side of the road, and it'll roll around in the car if your driving rite.

I agree.. except for the clutch cable.
I drove my '74 Int 1/2 ton for at least a month without being able to disengage the clutch.. *laughs*
Not really an "emergency" item..
