Default 87-89 Recommended G50 synthetic gear lube

what's the recommended product to use nowadays? My last change, I used the Mobil Delvac 75w-90. Is there a better product on the market now?

That's what I used last year when I changed the fluid. I haven't heard of anything better.

I've been using Quaker State 75w140 full synthetic for the last three years in my G50 89 and i like it.I'm sure it's a good thing especially since my car sees about 15 track days per season.I dropped the oil last Fall as i had to replace my blown clutch and it still looked like new ...

Being that it's a lot warmer in Texas than in Montreal,i'm sure this would work for you

Cheers !
Phil

Ron,

You know that your question could turn into a never ending debate !
Something like the Brad Penn and Swepco trilogy ... lol

Cheers !

My recommendation is Kendall Synthetic 75w/90; if you need to have it shipped you can get it from Marc at Red Line Service in Long Beach, CA. (562-901-2900)

Royal Purple is the best.

Thanks for all the replies, but as Phil says, I don't want this to turn into a long-term discussion like the oil debates. I'll probably use the Delvac 75w-90 since I have used it for approximately 8 years, but now have several recommendatios in the event I can't get it.

ah come on we love theses endless debates over and over again ...

and On a somewhat totally unrelated note .. my friend was at a British car show and they were selling Kendall GT motor oil with zddp. I didnt think this stuff even existed any more. I bet its Brad Penn in a different bottle.. bonus was it was only 40.00 a case .. a great deal for locally bought in Canada.

It's all a matter of personal preference. Bottom line is make your own call. I prefer to use the Redline 75W90 but they are all decent products.

If I didn't use Royal Purple, my next choice would be Redline. I will only use high end synthetic lubrications like Royal Purple, Amsoil, Redline. The cost difference is inconsequential.

I just changed my transmission oil last weekend. Based on Pete's recommendation (which I read in another thread but was repeated here), I went with Kendal 75w90. I need more time in the car to tell if it makes a difference. I had Mobil in there before. I filled the transmission using a pump I got at autozone. I know a pump is supposed to be better than letting it fill by gravity, but pumping 3+ quarts of oil using a pump that dispenses a teaspoon of oil per pump was a serious PITA!
