Default 901 trans airport gears

Anybody know the number stamped on the trans indicating that it's an short geared box?

What would one cost? If I found one?

Thanks.

Rob,

These are just a few of the specially-made gearboxes:

901/51; Hillclimb gears
901/52; Airport gears
901/53; Fast tracks
901/54; Nurburgring gears

An original one of these would be expensive.

Always a pleasure, Sir.

Yeah,....I think an original, factory gearbox that's in really good shape with an LSD could bring that.

And these days one would be very wise to open the box, with a good deal of the purchase money in escrow, to verify the gear ratios and condition. Many early transmissions don't have pure, original short ratios; rather, they've been built with backwards-mounted gear sets (5th flipped and installed as a 3rd, etc.).

If you can find either a 901/77, 901/82, or 911/82 I think you will find that these also have the same airport ratios, as the 901/52 (AA, F, J, O, S) with the 7:31 ring and pinion. I would imagine that these are still pretty hard to find too though.
