![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Do the members of this board prefer one brand seat over another? I like the Recaros and Sparco makes a nice leather sport seat (Milano). However, the Corbeau seats in leather seem very nice, but are significantly less expensive. Are there quality differences between say Recaro, Sparco, Corbeau, Cobra and Momo?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Rick,
You really need to sit in a variety of seats to determine what fits your bod the best. Seats, like helmets, all fit us differently. I prefer Recaro SRD's as they fit me well, recline, and are cloth, which I prefer for street and track.

My real question: is one brand better than another in terms of quality, safety, durability, etc.? If so, then I would narrow my search to those brands. However, I don't want to spend the extra $$$ just for a name.
Thanks for the help!

I have a Corbeau in one of my cars. I bought it used so I have not vouch for it's age for previous life. The seat recently broke, well bent actually. I have since taken it apart and welded it and am putting it back together. Long story short, I dont think this would happen to a Recaro or Sparco.

IMHO, there is not a better seat than Recaro and you do get what you pay for in terms of durability, quality & materials. From a safety POV, Recaro, Sparco & Momo are all very close.

I could be wrong, but doesn't Porsche own Recaro?
Thus, Porsche OEM seats are Recaro. Doesn't that speak volumes about durability and quality?

first I would just echo what Bill already said. Find one that fits you. with that said, My Momo is a nice seat but I havent been happy with the wear on the upholstry. It started looking worn after about a year of use, I dont consider that exceptable for that expensive of product.

I'm leaning more and more toward the Recaro SRD, but Jack Olsen (I beleive) has some Recaro RS replicas or (pole positions) in leather that look awesome. I worried that my wife would freak if I put fixed back seats in the car. By the way it's a '83 SC with chocolate brown interior white exterior. I want some black SRDs in leather.

Rick,
If you do decide to get Recaro SRD's, you can order them in several different colored fabrics, as well as choose the stitching color of the Recaro logo. In my SC with a tan interior, I had tan seats with a tan logo. On my C2 with a dark blue interior, dark blue seats with dark blue logo. Actually, on the dark blue I thought I was going to get a white logo, which is the default, however, the place I ordered them from looked up my prior order, and decided I really wanted the more subtle stitching, which looks fine. Those fabrics and color stitching are no charge options. You also can get a sub belt opening for around $50/seat, which is handy if you expect to go to the track with 5 point harnesses. If you go with SRD's, or probably any seat, call around to check prices. I've seen roughly a $100 per seat high to low difference on new SRD's.

I personally enjoy the corbeaus that are in my car. They run in the 600-700 dollar range, and are very comfortable, and the keep you planted to the seat when you come flying around a corner.
Too bad it wont be a month or so before I can sit in them again.

I bought a pair of Corbeaus, and hated them. Maybe some of their seats are worthwhile, but I had the Targa RS, and while it looked like a performance seat, the support was lousy and the seat was uncomfortable.
I went back to Recaros.

I have only owned seats from two manufacturers, so my experience is limited. But I get to look at plenty at the track and see how they hold up after a few years. In my opinion, Recaro and Sparco are the best. I haven't spent much time on OMP, but they should be ok. I have seen MOMO's look like crap in a short time. I had two Recaro SPG's in the car for 7 years before I installed two Sparco EVO's. I went with the EVO's for a hair more width for long road trips. I have been extremely happy with both since they are both the only seats that have not given me back pain after hours of driving. The way I mounted my EVO's in a laid back, "Jimmy Clark" position makes them very comfortable. I don't get how some people I know can mount seats in a steering wheel hugging, upright "truck driver" position when they never sat in that position with their factory seats to begin with. I also chose the Recaros and The Sparcos because their side brackets mounted in my SC's factory holes without the needing either adapters or sliders. The only thing I never liked on the Recaros were the trim pieces on the seat belt holes. I would prefer if Recaro used a more common style of trim without any little screws like the kind Sparco uses in the EVO, REV, PRO 2000, etc... But I doubt anybody is as picky as I about some stupid thing like that.
