I'm also not big on mods myself as I like stock. But one mod I did do was easy and makes the rear end look fantastic -- LED tail lights.

Now you got me thinking I checked out those Dectane LED's and they look hot. I might get them.

Congrats on the 997. We leased a 2S Cab. - no issues. We then bought my friends 4S Cab., mostly due to our prior experience. Again, no issues to date.

By nature, you are on a slippery slope called depreciation vs. the Carrera. IMO, the 997 is a great buy, especially when compared to a similar optioned 991 for $125k+

Ed is right about the rims. 1) There are a ton of 19' & 20's that look killer on the 997. 2) If you are washing the car yourself, the lobsters are no fun to clean.

If the car does not have Sport Exhaust, AND is out of Warranty, do a search for "Gundo Hack".

I just went the "other way" and purchased a 3.2. PLEASE NOTE: Convincing the wife that 2 P-Cars are a needed, can be done. I can only hope to enjoy the car for a long time with a similar return on capital.

Sure I'll miss my 3.2. When the right time comes I might get another 3.2. Prob a coupe G50. But that's def 10 years away.

Comparing the 911 to the 997 is easier than I thought. If you put the PASM to the hardest setting and turn on the Sports Mode, the car drives very viceral. Hard on the suspension and immediate on the throttle. Very cool. The manual tranny is amazing. So smooth and very precise. My 3.2 was pretty comfy already with leather, electric seats and decent sound system. So in that regard, strangely, it's not that much different.

I see another 911 in my future when the right time comes. For now, I can only afford to own 1 Porsche. Or so my wife tells me
when I got my 84 928, my wife was upset. 'You have too many things..."

now I KNOW her concern really had to do with $$$.

so I told her I could resolve the concern on too many old, paid-for things. sell 'em all and buy a new GT3. but then I would be up to my eyeballs in debt.

she was NOT amused.

best of luck enjoying the new ride.

I like the "lobster claw" wheels too. They're unique to the early 997S.
Enjoy.

I really like the wheels too. I wouldn't change them.
