Default Anyone have a pic of gauge bezel removal tool?

Has anyone a pic of the tool that's used to remove the instrument gauge bezel? (Please, spare me the pics of screwdrivers and such.......!)

Just curious as to what the shops use.

Thanks!

I did not know they made a tool but I have had very good luck with a sharp small flat head screwdriver. If there is a tool I have a feeling it some thing very very similar. I then used a small hammer or some thing with a square head to press the metal back in to place. If you have never done this before the metal is super soft it bends nice and easy.

Regards
Dave

There is no tool-you can get a set of plastic interior trim removal tools from HF, if you want to get fancy.

watchmakers use a press with plastic cups. I imagine this is similar tech.

I've an inclination there is a tool,..and that NHS and other make use of it....being self-designed or whatever/ Something that cleanly removes or installs it.

no pics?

I can't help with removal, but for re-rolling the metal bead, wouldn't one of those little tools used for window screen bead work?

Sorry, I was thinking of the exposed trim bezels. Those remove quite easily-didn't know you were looking at disassembly.

Dshepp, are you planning a volt meter mod? Let us know, this could be very cool.

It looks like the roller goes around the outside, pressing it off a littke at a time.

Hey Scott! Hope you're well.

Certainly going to add one.....I think I've decided upon "where". I prefer to keep her as stock as possible, at all times. I'm now considering removing (no mods) the damned (ambient) temp gauge that's located down on the center console...now THAT'S a gauge I could do without....(of course I'd keep it stored). Seems to make the most sense to me?

DVM's got me wondering about the screen bead tool........

BEST!

My own thoughts on this is the ambient temp gauge would be a plus: it's unique to your Silver Anniv. model, so it's going to be good to have.

If you did modify a used tach, then you could just plug and play, and not wreck your mint original tach.

Thats exactly what I was thinking Rus. A donar tach, maybe from a 964 with the idot lights, or a 993 with idiot lights and(IIRC) on board computer might make a suitable mount for a volt meter.

Definately a keeper original part-no question.

(mods?) NOPE. I'll not modify my original tach (nor install something else,..just won't touch it!) and will, instead, head towards the console....(for my newly found voltage information)....

Best, Rusnak!
