Help finding the original owner of my car
I am trying to find the original owner of my car - a 1985 911 Carrera with M491 Turbo look option in a PTS color.
I know the following:
The car was sold new by Stoddard Imported Cars in Willoughby, OH to a German guy called Helmut (last name unknown), who was then living in Medina, OH.
Helmut was apparently a Porsche collector and the car was an addition to his collection.
He was possibly an investment banker.
At some point he moved to somewhere in Florida.
Does that ring any bells with anyone?
Thanks
Dave

Ask for the sales manager Chris Sanner, a former Rennlister at North Olmsted Porsche in Ohio. Tell him Doug Bray said to call. He has connections.

Stoddard doesnt even exist anymore. The dealer is closed. it was bought by thre Penskie group . i think they opened a whole new dealership somewhere. I have family down in chardon and know the dealership well. Even the antique and restortion parts business has moved on to a new location.
Having thought about it .. if you want Dougs contact to help you .. dont tell them Doug sent you

The reason for the search is simply to find out as much about the car as possible (I am keeping the money from the glove box myself).
I have a note from the salesman to Helmut congratulating him on his new car.
I got in contact (indirectly) with the guy who was the service manager at Stoddard at the time. He could remember the car and the other details about Helmut.
I figured it was worth a few minutes posting.

I figured that if someone has a link I could pass on my contact info, then if Helmut is out there and willing to make contact, he can contact me rather than making his info public.

If you know where the car was owned and purchased call around to the Porsche maint. shops. Tell them you bought Helmuts car. Talk to mechanics and the maint shop boss.
I found one receipt in the glove box with a Cali Porsche shop address/phone and called. Talked to the mechanic that had maint. my car for 25 years.
Also called the owner.
Learned one hell of a lot more about the car from the mechanic.

I tracked down my former owner and it went so well that he and his wife are going to come over for dinner this summer when in Maine!
